Today I had the honor for the 2nd time to sit down and talk with the Black Prince of Bodybuilding, Mr. Robby Robinson. We spoke about Ken Sprague, the owner of Golds gym that nobody mentions or talks about. It's as if Ken has been erased from history. Very similar to how Arnold try to erase Ken's Gold's gym in his book "Education of a Bodybuilder" from history until Ken sued him.

My friend had just competed in the junior national powerlifting in Portland and flew to stay with his aunt in west LA.rally amazing experience at that age and time. My friend, fresh from the contest was squatting with quite a lot and was just 20 and Padilla seems to take notice but we never talked to him as he was in the middle of his workout.the gym was all but empty on an early afternoon at Worlds

Ken did so much for bodybuilding, so much! Personally, I wouldn't stick it in the end as a means to an end, but he did quite well at the time and really used it in a strategic way to leverage himself.

What many people don't know about Ken, since they don;t know anything about him, but perhaps soe low hanging fruit, is he is the father of three accomplished children. One is a high school administrator for a school distrcit in Atlanta Georgie, and he was in his college days, the co-captain of the University of Oregon basketball team. Ken's daughter was a USC grad, and is a healthcare professional today. His youngest son was an all conference shot putter at Stanford, and runs his own tech company today. Ken also has been a lifelong advocate of civil rights, putting his time and money where his mouth is.

Yes, in Oregon where his son with his third wife was an all state shot putter, and then when he moved to Atlanta, he committed to teaching advanced physics, trig and calculus to underserved kids from poor communities.

I don't think that Arnold had any problems with Gay people - he was always friends with a number of Gays. The issue may have been that Ken Sprague was a Gay Porn Actor, and Arnold may have felt that this would cast suspicion on him - especially once he was trying to become a mainstream actor.

i preferred world gym ,no music no stress ,no keeping up with the joneses,every morning Arnold was there ar 8am and doing what he loves ,no one cared,joe was in his chair always when i was there ,bob paris was keeping to him self,everyone loved this type of place.GOLDS WAS FOR SHOW OFFS ,just my reflection.i truely miss them days ,wish i could go back in time ,it kills me thinking how much fun i had,Arnold was joker ,he laid so many woman ,it was not funny,how did he get caught dropping his leg over the maid ,make no sense does it.

Arnold always used reverse psychology, he had great mental strength, he knew what to say to manipulate and motivate people it was people with weak minds find that Arnold was too much for them, but if read a lot bodybuilding books books from 1940's to 80's you find that were a lot psychology and how to build a strong mind, it was part of bodybuilding philosophy to be mentally strong, what is miss from the 90s to the internet generation bodybuilding as people nowadays are mentally weak.

@@knightveg Arnold did not have mental strength, he had a big mouth that almost cost him his role in conan. And i met a photographer who often photographed the shows who said arnold was as dumb as batshit and he could easily be made to look like an idiot but was often way to egotistical and stupid to realize how big of a fool he often made himself appear towards others. Many a photographer at the shows would inwardly groan when arnold approached them to tell them if they take any photos of him without his consent he'd be suing them, none of them took his stupid threat seriously. It certainly appears the more i learn about Arnold the more it seems he is where he is today by manipulating deception and betraying others to further his own personal gain.

It’s not BS, just google Ken Sprague & you’ll see what they were talking about. Ken was doing gay porn with many of the mid to lower level bodybuilders of that era as they needed the money because there was no money in bodybuilding. These guys backed up everything with written facts
