For those of you wondering about the Miata video published earlier today - It will be back on wednesday, in full HD (we hope). There's a glitch in the KZbin matrix that is causing issues currently.

@speedacademy
@speedacademy 5 жыл бұрын
Start with brakes, then move onto suspension. If you have a square tire setup (so 235's front/rear) that will help cornering quite a bit versus a skinny tire up front and wide in the rear.

That "cool blue" colour is contamination, titanium absorbs contaminants from the air when it's hot, that's why purging is so important. If this was a structural piece then anything other than a straw colour and it would be scrap. As it's not structural it doesn't matter too much.

Its an intake not a piece that is holding up the car so we'll be just fine. And have you ever looked at a ti exhaust system, its 'contaminated' all the way through and somehow it still holds up just fine so not sure what you're point is.

All that time to back purge is it a good idea to heat up the metal with a torch to blue it? How does that effect the corrosion resistance?
@gordowg1wg145
@gordowg1wg145 5 жыл бұрын
With the stabilising tab on the tube, have you taken into account the engine movement over bumps and when torqued over under power*? It can be quite significant at a distance from the engine and cause fractures of the mounting points, the insulating mount (grommet?) and/or loosening of the hose joins - especially if you haven't bead rolled the ends. *Remember, the torque reaction isn't the engine torque, but the engine torque TIMES the gear ratio it is in!
@speedacademy
@speedacademy 5 жыл бұрын
the mounts are stiffer than stock so there wont be alot of movement at all.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that you will have some heat transferred from the upper radiator hose to your titanium air intake. I do not know the ability to transfer heat from titanium, but I imagine that you want to have the air entering the engine as cold as possible
@speedacademy
@speedacademy 5 жыл бұрын
That rad hose is 4-ply so it will be minimal, the rad fans running will transfer more hot air into it but with the velocity of air entering the engine its not as big a problem as you think, the key is to have the intake away from that hot air.
