"Anda" is used when the speaker can't see the people they're talking to. So it's a suitable "kata ganti nama" to be used in announcements/posters/ads. Hence, why we don't use it in conversational malay! Cuz we know who we're talking to

So great to have you back on the channel! You have answered a lot of questions I had over the last weeks. Thank you so much and looking forward to your next video :-)

Hi Markus! Thank you for watching :D If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask (and if I've overlooked any questions, do give me a nudge). It's a treasure trove of video ideas and people seem to prefer short videos where I explain specific things in depth. It's nice to add variety to my videos rather than just teach sentences all the time.

I read a few books, but none tells me "anda" is not commonly used in daily conversation. Thank you for your useful sharing. Really appreciative.

Terima kasih awak adalah saja hebat ustazah. Can I ask is this phrase right?
@sierralisse88976 жыл бұрын
Haha hello! Good attempt :D In Malaysia though, 'ustazah' is a term reserved for religious teachers who are well-versed in Islamic subjects. For everyone else, the right term is 'cikgu' which means 'teacher'. I don't consider myself a teacher though, just a person who shares what I know :) Let me know what you want to say in English and I can translate it for you in Malay.

Selain dari nama sendiri untuk berkomunikasi dengan ahli keluarga ....masih ramai yang menggunakan gantinama "orang" = saya.
