Plus, they weren't just travelling on the way to the Demon King's castle, they were basically fighting a war as they went. Walking is one thing. Carving a path through enemy territory is another.

Himmel is considered a hero , not because he slayed the demon king , but because he helped an old granny with her luggage , helped a lost girl to find her way to her home. and many more epic adventures !!!

Frieren is the one of the best shows i've seen bring up religion. While i dont believe in any type of god i love how religion is explained in the show. How people do deserve the kindness for living their lives to the best of their ability, even when in the show frieren brings up the fact that scientifically its not likely they don't shy away from talking about it. Religious themes are all over the place in frieren and i feel like its one of my favorite sources of representation for the topic

About how long their original adventure took: it took them 10 years to get to the Demon King, but apparently they returned really quickly, so it wasn't a 20-year round trip. It's not explained why or how or why, but basically they were all together for only about 10 years.

It was a 10 year round trip. But it took longer to get to the Demon King's castle because of all the side quests and battles they had to endure. After defeating the Demon King, the return trip was a lot shorter because they had no more demons to fight

10 year journey in total, not each way. The time it took from leaving to returning was 10 years. Also, there's a reason why the only elf we've seen so far is Frieren, but that gets explained later.

Now we just need someone to take Chris's sea shanty and triple up the voices and harmonies. Frieren calls Heiter a "namagusa bouzu" with "bouzu" meaning monk and "namagusa" (nama = raw, kusai = smell/stink) meaning he reeks of raw/bloody meat/fish. Because Buddhist monks are supposed to be vegetarians (the Buddhism that traveled up through China and over to Japan), and Heiter's overindulgence in his alcohol intake is like him straying from the teachings. (For some reason people think it's that he drinks alcohol at all that's a problem, but he's clearly drinking more than he "needs" to if he's got crippling hangovers every week (ep1).) Another comment mentioned this, but the common trope used in Japanese derivative fantasy (light novels etc) is that because elves live so long they don't have the same reproductive urges we do. Makes sense when you think about how humans don't give birth to litters and that even having two babyspawn at once is considered rare. As for what I remember from D&D's Forgotten Realms setting, I think there's like... a finite amount of elven souls in circulation? And that every time an elf is born it means another has passed somewhere in the world? And that the main elven/elvish deity guy is waging a war on all things orcs or something? Different settings deal with the forever-people population problem in their own ways lol.

I mean, Tolkein's Elves are fully immortal (At least when it comes to "Natural Causes"), but they don't overwhelm middle earth because various wars and Morgoth, Sauron and Co. keep killing so many, and the rest take off across the ocean.

In all honesty, Heiter's take on heaven is really great. He knows for a fact he can't prove it that's why he said what he said. And Frieren herself said that it's a thing that can't be proven nor disproven. So he just decided that it's better to think it's real. Heiter is a real G. He believes what he believes and doesn't force it on others. Eisen is also a G because he didn't mock Heiter's beliefs and actually picks it up. That's a good interaction.

Frieren’s comment “tatta juu nen” たった10年 is subbed as “a mere 10 years,” but it can also be translated as “just 10 years.” To me, the latter is more accurate to what she’s saying because I think she’s just being matter-of-fact about it. By saying “mere,” it makes it sound more trivial.

What Frieren keeps calling Heiter in Japanese is "namagusa-bouzu". The first part comes from the adjective "namagusai", which usually means 'fishy-smelling' or 'foul-tasting', but can sometimes be used in the sense of 'fallen' or 'corrupt'. 'Bouzu' originally refers to a Buddhist monk with a shaved head, but in Frieren's world I guess it can be used more generally to refer to anyone in religious orders. And for what it's worth, I'm a Christian, and I believe in the hope of heaven. It's what I wish for everyone.

I love how they talk about religion in frieren. I struggle with doubts in my faith all the time, but like how corrupt priest says, it's more convenient if x exists. no matter which god or goddess you believe in or whatever afterlive you believe in or nothing at all. I choose to belive in my faith and even if I have doubts I choose to believe.

It didn't took them 10years to go there, the entire Journey was 10 years. They went to Ende, killed the Demon King and returned to the capital. 10 years in total, mainly because of side-quests

the hole adveture was 10 years so it was probably longer to get ther then to get back they had to fight lot of enemys to get to the castle brobably it to 10 years then they got home in a few monts. i dont think when eisen sad it took them 10 years that the journey back took 10 years as well

No, it took them 10 years to get there and defeat the demon king. They did a bunch of sidequests along the way. Helping other people in need, they didn't just gun it to the Demon King's castle. There is no reason to believe they took 10 years to return. Frieren is purposefully taking the same path they took to encounter all the people who had interactions with Himmel so she could know him better. Simply flying to the Demon King's castle would utterly defeat her quest to know Himmel. And, to be honest, that is lame storywise.
