True, a lot of words sound similar to Polish, and quite a few grammar rules are shared between, but it's tricky at first It takes a little effort to be able to understand and give simple answers while beeing asked, but it's not completely daunting task Learing Ukrainian folk songs seems like a great way to get it done

Ukrayini is very similar to Polish..much closer to Polish than it is R******.
@rebekahmaddox15312 жыл бұрын
True! It's because of geographical location. For example, many people in Kyiv still only speak ruzzian (spelling it like this because of the war). I doubt people in Ukraine are speaking ruzzian right now. It should be illegal. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@reginanazarkewich22882 жыл бұрын
@@rebekahmaddox1531 not just the geography, the history of Ukraine... it's relationship with Belarus and Poland in a historical context is the reason for similar language.. even though the Polish use a Latin alphabet. The dialect from Lviv my grandparents spoke had a lot of Polish words in it... I've figured that out learning proper Ukrainian.

Thank you for teaching us. I plan on going to help in Ukraine in the not so distant future. Although I am not a Soldier nor had any significant military experience, I am a Firefighter. My country (Australia) has sent some Firefighters to help Ukraine's Firefighters and Emergency responders. I am hoping that I can be sent to help at some point, or I might have to find my own way. I want to say "stay safe" (залишатися в безпеці) (zalyshatysya v bezpetsi) (I hope these are correct translations) but it seems pointless as I'm sure you're doing all you can to be safe as possible.
