When I arrived at Hope Cove last June to go kayaking and spearfishing it looked like that! When I woke the next day a storm was blowing and the water mud brown! Damn! I have to go back there! Thanks for posting Joe!

Hi joe awesome video I’m literally looking to start spear fishing in Torquay mainly off anstys cove as I only live in Exeter could you give a few basic beginners tips to get started for me and anyone local to Exeter I can pair up with as a dive mate? Many thanks

Cheers bud, was bloody cold but a good laugh and that's the main thing

Awesome Joe! Really easy to watch and the drone footage adds another dimension to it. I'd recommend turning off obstacle avoidance when flying from the boat, makes it much easier to catch it. Also when turning the drone on hold it relatively level instead of laying it on a flat surface like you have, that will get it confused a bit.

Ahhh this sounds like sound advice mate, thanks. I'm pleased it survived the first trip at sea!!

Hey pal. I'm pretty new to spear fishing , I'm in salcombe, hope cove alot over the summer. Do you no shallow spots (5m max) where I can go without using a boat? Loving your work. James
@JoePkSpearfishing5 жыл бұрын
James selby Hi James- just hit any nearby beach and dive- soar mill, thurlestone, bigbury, arymer, there all great shore dives you don’t need a boat 👌

Do you train doing the off season, and how.? 20m at the beginning of the season, is quiet deep.!
@JoePkSpearfishing5 жыл бұрын
I dive through the winter and keep used to the depth, looking for scallops and lobster. I don't train but I try to keep in reasonable shape I guess.

Hi I've watched loads of your videos, how long do you have to hold your breath to do spearfishing and can you recommend any breath holding techniques
@JoePkSpearfishing5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gav. Spearfishing is less of a long breath hold and more about knowing where the fish are! There's no rule about how long - in the UK you can get good fish with 10 seconds of bottom time! My dives at the moment are about 1 min 30 but I used to catch some nice fish with a 40 seconds dive.

@@gavfreeborn2793 A fantastic area though I've never been there... head to a spearfishing store, get the basic gear and get in the water.
