PLEASE continue to reference and test newer bikes against older benchmarks. Sure a new Yeti enduro bike dropped but how far has it really pushed the envelope against a 3 year old Enduro. Based on this review...not much. Very nice content.

Got one with a WRP mullet link, over stroked coil shock due to the increased clearance and a bigger fork, making it about a 185/180 bike. So good!

I’d like to see slightly steeper seat tube, adjustable geo like the Stumpy with the option to mullet without need for 3rd links. But keep the suspension layout the same, works so well.

Yes we like the high position in a lot of bikes as as spend most of our time on raw and rugged trails that aren’t always purpose built for mtb. So clearance and handling demands are different than modern day flow trails. 😆

Will you guys compare this to last years' redesigned Slash?
@Eric-xx3mb2 жыл бұрын
With bikes getting longer and longer I'd be curious to see what these guys think about a sizing system like Lee McCormick's RAD (rider area distance) system and how they would feel on a RAD fitted bike vs a longer enduro bike from the manufacturer.
@mrvwbug44232 жыл бұрын
RAD doesn't work with modern geo. Even EWS racers that size down are still well above RAD number. RAD would have Jack Moir (who is 6'1") on a bike with like 450 reach, and while he sizes down he's only sizing down to like 485 reach (he rides a size M Canyon Strive). RAD would have Jesse Melamed (who is 5'7") on a bike with like 415 reach, and he runs 449 reach on his bike (size M RM Altitude).
@Eric-xx3mb2 жыл бұрын
@@mrvwbug4423 Maybe, but they would have really high stack to compensate for the smaller reach. I'm not advocating for RAD per say I would simply like to have an expert analysis and comparison of it to a major company's modern geometry so I can understand each approach fully instead of just going by internet comments. McCormick gives a very detailed explanation of why he recommends his RAD, RAAD, SHO, and other measurements. I'd like to see a professional industry explanation for their measurements and a back to back analysis from a professional rider.
@Eric-xx3mb2 жыл бұрын
@@mrvwbug4423 You might be right, but I'm not sure if EWS riders who size down would be above RAD (Rider Area Distance). I'm 6'1" and ride a 2019 Trek Slash (enduro bike) size large. With a 40mm riser bar and a 32mm stem I'm riding the bike at a very close to recommended RAD. If I punch in the numbers for a modern enduro bike, say the Intense Tracer 29 the Large would definitely be above RAD, but the medium hits my measured RAD dead on. Once again I'm not sure RAD is the best way to measure, but I'd love to see it compared and possibly disputed with numbers from an industry expert from a major bike company.

@hotdealwire2 жыл бұрын
You guys mention stack height in most of these videos. Why does stack height matter? Doesn't it just change the reference point for other measurements like reach and ETT? Is a 620mm with 10mm of spacers different than a 630mm stack? My understanding is that it is not different, other than that the reach shrinks by a few mm with the spacer (and the higher stack might make for a stronger frame and 630 cannot be made into a 620 which would imply that smaller is better).
@MostBallinestPlaya2 жыл бұрын
It matters if you prefer a taller bar height than you can easily achieve with commonly available adjustments like ~30mm of spacers and a ~35mm bar. I have a 650mm stack, 30mm spacers, +10mm stem, 50mm bar and I don't want it any lower. I wouldn't buy a bike with a 620-630mm stack personally. Like most things (eg short chainstays), the extremes of the sizing spectrum tend to notice stack height more. It barely increases from M to XL on most bikes. If you have no issues with typical stack heights that's great, easier to pick a bike.
@hotdealwire2 жыл бұрын
@@MostBallinestPlaya got it, that makes sense. But it does seem like they were making note of differences of 10mm and acting like that was a significant difference. 10mm of reach or wheelbase is significant but even 20mm of stack height seems negligible to me.

What are your heights? I'm 6'2" with long legs and considering getting the S4.
@TheLoamWolf6 ай бұрын
The S4 is likely what we’d suggest! But, you could go down or up in their size range if you’d prefer increased agility for tighter trails (s3) or increased stability for faster trails (s5)

That might have been the 2020 non S-Works frames. I know VanCan famously cracked his first Enduro frame very early on near the seat tube and got an S-Works frame as a warranty replacement. He's also EXTREMELY hard on frames (200+lb guy who goes full send on the North Shore) and has switched to alloy frames after he broke 3 Evil Wreckoning frames in one year.

I had 2 S-works frames. First cracked inside the SWAT Box, second hat microfractures all over the downtube.
