Nice video, tnx 👍. I bought myself a Kenevo Comp 6 fattie last December and i must say that its a tank destroyer not a bike 😁, but it gives you confidence when riding all sorts of trails and it climbs very well. So im using it for all, DH, XC, ENDURO. You just have to know what is your prefered style of riding, thats it. One more thing......The e-bike got me pedaling again!!! After a very tough disease( blood cancer) i thought i will never ride the bike again. I tryed to ride normal bike many times and it just didnt work. Now i weight 130 kg, and the Kenevo with his robustness alow me to pedal once again. Greetings from Slovenia and tnx EMBN and keep the good work. 👍

Great vid as usual, but how many laps could you do on both bikes? that is the real world test that is more relevant for most of us.

I've the kenevo expert on sat i done 14 mile, 5764 ft in elevation within 2hrs and had 17% battery left i was in boost the whole time, its very steep so trying to get my friends to go there without ebikes or uplifts is near impossible, the bike is a monster up and down the mountain, went home got my jump bike and hit the jump park for 2 hrs,

I prefer my merida e160, with assistance running lower, than the Rockymountain Instinct BC I recently tried, even with the Instinct running 27.5 plus tyres, i found the merida lighter, nibler and more playful, and it actually felt faster, though that may not be the case, but it was nicer to ride, even with a smaller motor running a lower power assist. A rockymountain Altitude was the first emtb i rode and made me fall in love with them and know i had to have one. I've tried a few others since, and nothing stood out to me as much as the e160, but I didn't get to try the canyon mullet emtb that I wanted to compare it to. The norco sight was my second choice option, but the mullet setup on the e160 sold it to me. I ride a medium, so the mullet setup worked best for me, I've yet to find a 29er that i have properly enjoyed and preferred over a 27.5. Mullet gave me the best of both worlds. I like a lighter bike, shorter chainstay and the more playful nature of a 27.5 rear end.

I really want to see a mullet Levo SL too... And ideally more travel. So an endro bike, but the smaller battery and motor. That would really appeal to me more. I have a Merida E160, I run the assistance pretty low on it, even in boost, and do long rides, lots of jumping and other stuff, would love to see what something similar but with the smaller motor and battery does. Though it may be better still having the bigger motor running low power, than a smaller motor running higher power..

Also appears to depend on the rider skill level. I am older more exploring than out an out downhill and it seems that if you are not going for all out speed hard hitting trails the lighter bike is better for smoother flowing tracks with less big rocks or roots. I do wish you guys would comment on the drag above 15mph though. We cant all get to test ride these bikes and you can exceed this on a slight down hill fire road. A lot of us do end up riding alone. I did get good at riding at 14.5mph on my 2019 Levo Hardtail but in the end got rid of it because of the drag.

The additional fun on an eBike is NOT using the fire roads and go anywhere you like! for that you need power and battery.

excellent video and comparison, that really makes a difference in our lives and choices, suggestion: 1- compare the bikes as well from the factory 2- modified kenevo now with Mx (29 front) 3- how many laps could you effectively do with the original battery? 4- would put Orbea rise in the comparative too !! what do you think?? 😘🙏🏻

Happy New Year Steve! You certainly looked more natural on the SL on the DH- dancing through the corners; while the Kenevo looked heavy and pushed through the soft ground. Perhaps the most important question to me was not answered: which bike gave you the most grins and fun? I know a tough question to answer given your approach to your channel. I ordered my second full powered eMTB this year, but I have to say I am softening to the idea of a lower powered light weight eMTB as time goes on!

I am wondering why you exchanged the coil damper to the air shock . I own a Kenevo 2018 and a Turbo Levo (2017 with 29") and for me , the coil damper is something what utilize the 180 mm very well. On my Levo the back suspension ie quite hard, the Kenevo is a sofa when I should compare it. Some friends exchanged at their Levo SL the damper with a Crane Creek Inline coil damper and said that this makes a big positive change.

I had a Kenevo Comp 2020 first ebike, then I got a Levo SL Carbon same as you were on, I have put a 160 Lyrik on it and the FOD are my local MTB trails and I know that area you tested on very well. All I can say on every trail going down over the FOD I've beaten the time I did on my old Kenevo even on the DH runs at the pedal away centre.

Yeah ... fair play ... that DH section of your loop was very tame and as soon as you crank up the roughness and steepness, the 'bigger' rigs open up a very significant lead. I did this test myself and ended up with a 180mm 29er eEEEB. Never ridden anything like it. Males an analogue DH bike seem sketchy ... fact

I just built up a, wait for it........KELEVO! Left the 29 wheels on. But added a 55mm stroke shock and a cascade link to give me 165 rear travel. No issues with tire rub! 5mm of clearance wgen fully compressed. Changed the front fork to 170 travel! Put on 160 crank arms. See how this works and buy a zeb 180 or 170 next spring!

The Kenevo is perfect when ski resorts change over to mtb parks. You don't have to take the chair lift then, the bike helps your confidence to descend the black diamond trails. The SL is ideal for a 3-4 hour ride mainly on fire roads with some technical single track.

I'd like to know what fraction of your audience wants the quickest time regardless of any other factor, and what fraction doesn't give a rip about the time, but cares about how the bike feels. I like this channel, but the channels that cover the average rider trying to get a little better are more applicable to me. Which bike might be easier for the average rider to get better on?

I’m currently looking to buy a Levo bike in the next few months, and I’ve been going back & forth trying to decide between a Levo Comp or a Levo SL. Videos like this has me leaning more towards the SL. Also, I’ve been riding on my hard tail non-assist XC MTB more than my Class 3 throttle-assisted 1000W eMTB lately, and enjoying the lighter bike (that I need to put more effort into pedaling) a lot more these days. I guess that’s also steering me more towards buying a Levo SL. I’m very interested to see how these 2 bikes do on the same dry trails, since that’s what I have here year-round in Southern California.

Excellent video as usual. I wonder if you guys could help a a bit. I'm buying my first EMTB this year BUT I'm very undecided between Levo SL v.s. Orbea Rise. I have already ridden a Levo SL and I felt the bike was good but lacks in motor power by having only 35 NM's, I know the Rise is more powerful than the Levo but does it feel like having almost double power compared to the Levo?

In the fall I was all ready to get a Kenevo and mullet it, but no bikes available, and then Santa Cruz came out with the Bullit so I have a deposit down on one of those. So far I have no interested in a smaller battery smaller motor eMTB. Sure, riding up a fire road at a slow pace works for any bike, but I would not want to have the SL for long technical uphills. I am 87kg and would no doubt kill that small battery in short order where I ride. I am currently on a mulleted SC Heckler and my friends are all on Levos. I have serious Brose/700wh envy on every ride! So if I had to choose between Levo SL and Kenevo, it would be Kenevo every time.

Come on guys, majority of riders doesn't use Turbo mode more often on full power Ebike. Most rides are using Eco mode for longer rides, or Trail mode for 2 to 3 hours ride. Now I want to know how fast is the Kenevo using Trail mode VS SL using Turbo mode. We know that SL can use Turbo mode all day since it's very efficient and can last same as Full power Ebike on middle mode(trail). Please have a comparison this way SL on Turbo mode VS Full power Ebikes on middle power mode. Lets find out Range, speed, and effort(heart rate). Thanks in advance.

I’ve found this very interesting. I had a gen one levo and I basically destroyed it over a two-year period and slowly turned it into a short travel Kenevo. When I had the money together I bought 2020 kenevo expert. My thought process was that I’d basically built one before and that I couldn’t see the point in an SL. I’ve now done what Steve has done and have built a Kenduro with a pair of Zebs upfront. Whilst I love the bike it’s definitely more of a tank that my old levo and it definitely feels less spritely. This all makes me very S.L. curious. I do wonder though whether the way I ride would not be conducive to an S.L. I’m no big hitter but I weigh 102kg and I do like to ride a mix of natural downhill trails with jumps. I’ve actually ridden that triangle many times. Maybe I just need a second bike??? 🤔

I’m in the exact same predicament. I’ve got a 2017 Levo which I’m also worried about destroying by using at bike parks etc. Wasn’t sure whether to swap for a kenevo instead but I decided to get a second bike (Nukeproof mega) and have to say being able to choose between the two is really nice. Levo for lighter more natural stuff and then the nuke for the bike park days. I’d recommend the two bike option.
