I think andertons did the best demo of this headphone with the binaural microphone that the boss rep brought with him. I was super impressed with what this headphone could do and with proper VR application in the future, this might change how we consume media such as live concerts.
@justinvzu01

I ain't wearing headphones at some concert. It seems prone to theft, will break quickly and will never be as good as a real Amp turned up to 11. Nevermind the fact this could be worse for your ears, depending on your position relative to the stage. Nevermind the fact that I want all that complicated garbage. Not everything needs technology.

Tom Scholz made the Rockman in the early 1980's. He even recorded albums through it. Not as versatile, but you did not need a SMARTphone or tablet and an app just to even use it (which did not exist then anyway). These are bricks without the tablet and app it seems. Kinda lame. $399? I'll take an old Rockman off Ebay.

@@hyperluminalreality1 decent travel/practice amps cost around 50bucks, like the blackstar fly amp. 400dollar, lol, there are real combo amps for that price. If you want portable then get an ipad interface from ikmultimedia + you get free amp sims with it. Or buy bias fx mobile for 10dollar. At least you can record some ideas/demo's/riffs now.

Improving battery life by 10%, for example, is not the same as having the ability to patch to a DAW. The latter is almost universally mentioned in each review. If you want best possible sound of your guitar through headphones, this is it ! no kidding. From what I've seen these are really cool. The only thing I'm iffy about is price. Compared to the other products in the other katana line, these are expensive. For less than $100 more, for example, you can get the 2x12. I'm just left questioning the value and if these should have been 2 or 300 instead.

Can I import my already created tones from the tone studio? And if I could use my boss footswitch with it, it would be killer. Like being able to access my effects and turn on and off phaser etc with the foot pedal they make for the mkII amps.....this would be great however for playing in the living room or wherever you don't feel like moving your amp to. Love my katana artist mkII 100 watt but it stays in my jam space, if I wanna play in my living room or bedroom it's a hassle to move and cables etc....

I was hoping this would bypass the iPad/iPhone... like a basic headphone amp but with the killer tones and effects of the Katana(settings could be controlled from the headset or a small device - just imagine how potentially compact the Katana Air could be without the amp and speaker). I’ll stick with the iRig/AmpliTube if I have to run it through an iOS anyway.

Super interesting product GF, this is missing wired in and outs. I still lean towards THR with line outs, and record, plus I can take cans off and hear myself. $400 for headphones w/ Li-Ion batteries’ and 3-5 year lifespan with no input or future usage potential is a concern personally. I’ve also heard this first batch has some “drift effect” that may or may not be fixed via firmware update. Seems that Boss may have been a bit aggressive on the steering of volume between left and right ears. Definitely on my radar for Waza-Air mk ii.

Tom Scholz of the band Boston invented the Rockman in the early 1980's. It did not need a tablet and an app to function. You could plug any model of headphones into it, and it had a line out. It's tone was "good" enough that Tom and several other pro artists recorded albums through one as the main guitar sound. It had clean and distortion tones, but not super high gain metal tones, as they did not exist at the time. It ate batteries which you had to buy. No rechargeable batteries back then for consumer electronic gear. It had an AC adapter too though. This was almost 40 years ago. Anyway, this is nothing new or even special, since you need to have extra gear to even use it. It is a brick without a tablet with the app on it? No thanks.

you should've just laid the headphones flat, maybe on a audio damping surface to avoid rattle, and mic them but i don't know if that would even sound good at all

Anderton's has a great video for this. Boss came in to their studio with a wicked microphone that was a pair of ears. They put the headphones onto that. There is no other way to record the audio from it.

This sounds really nice, does it work on Android as well? Also no built in recording function seems like a dealbreaker :/
