@@davidcolwell614 End of last year, I got a deal for 99cents a month for a year. Of course this was with ads. Anyways, I never use Peacock. Not much thrills me. However, you are absolutely right. It's all about the Olympics & I look forward this summer to the games using the Peacock app.

Net Neutrality - The move away from 'net neutrality' was quite noticeable to me, especially when using Google. Google's search feature used to be pretty good at delivering search results immediately, now the first screen page of results is almost all ads or (I suspect) sponsored results as its primarily Amazon links. Peacock & NBC - Nope, not at those prices. NBC used to be great at bringing viewers a variety of sports. Now, even with streaming channels and multiple OTA channels in the ATSC formats (both 1 and 3), they (and other major media sites) are just concentrating more and more on the big sports (football, basketball, baseball, hockey, some golf, etc). They keep slicing that salami thinner and charging more for each slice. Sorry, but even the Olympics won't get me to sign up, NBC screwed that up royally when they first broadcast the Olympics in 1984 and bloated it out with commercials.

We are definitely entering the tv cable channel shutdown/sunsetting era where smaller channels are eliminated. Any channel not offering sports and/or live news coverage are in danger.

I still rather use a Raspberry Pi or mini PC to use a alternative to streaming services and cable on plex, and downloaded shows and movies

I foresee a lot of streaming services are going to do what Peacock is doing - they're trying to dissuade people from turning on and off their subscription based on what that month's content is - this only hurts current subscribers not willing to sign for a full year. I've been looking for a reason to watch all I want in the next month or so then drop it. I'm really thinking of slimming down my monthly subscriptions - I'll likely build a Plex media server with a HD Homerun box here this week and start a slew of cancelations next week. I'll be on the lookout for people selling their DVD / Blu-Ray collections at garage sales this year too.

Maybe I don't understand but why wouldn't company like Disney just give away their lower viewership channels for free to a cable company. I can't imagine it's really costing Disney that much money to broadcast additional Disney channels like Disney Junior and Disney XD. Disney would still be able to sell ad space on those channels versus the cable honey just dropping those lower channel or am I missing something?

Spectrum dropped Disney Networks including ABC & FOX in many areas. Cable One systems dropped Viacom channels including CBS already.

Starlink is already worldwide, and provides realistic speeds averaging between 100 to 200 mbps. Amazone will be hard pressed to fully compete with Space X.

Question for Luke. A friend of ours just had their home rent go up again by Invitation homes inc. They have well over 90k rentals. They raised the rent over $200 and are now forcing them to use Spectrum cable for tv and internet. Didn’t you mention that apartments/condos/homes can’t force certain cable company usage by a new law? Or does this not apply?
