Analyses are incredibly helpful! They help understanding the techniques you use a little bit better and they give a good guidance on how to analyse your own recordings!

Masterpiece Aaron. I love the differences between the two speeches in the same year. I was starting to fall into that formula trap so this is a godsend. It also lets me know that this is just the tip of the ice berg and there are probably a million other ways to write a winning contest speech without a heroes journey.

I appreciate that, Dylan. I believe you had asked me about giving stories outside of the hero story model before. I hope I was able to address it some here.

Hi Aaron, the part where you lied, where you exaggerated to make sure everybody knows it wasn't the truth, you were meaning to describe your expression and the way you said it as "Sarcasm", is that right?
@publicspeakingmentor2 жыл бұрын
Yes I suppose you can think of it that way.

One of those stereotypes about Toastmasters IS contests is that they have to be humourous, I'm not sure how true is that
@publicspeakingmentor2 жыл бұрын
I understand what you're saying...humor is very pervasive in the contest and that is because humor is powerful when it comes to connection. However, there have been many people who have been successful with less humorous speeches. In fact in many cases the funniest speeches do not always win.
