In this video I’ve speed and batch painted a total of 24 cavalry models: half Russian Napoleonic Cuirassiers and half Hussars.
Was it too much to handle? Not at all!
By batching all the horses and common colors together, I was able to knock out 70-80% of the heaviest work all up front, leaving the more exciting task of painting the uniforms for last, just in time to buoy whatever wavering enthusiasm I may have experienced after all that!
Here are the sections:
Horses 0:47
Common base coats 2:40
Cuirassier uniforms: 6:57
Hussar uniforms: 11:41
I’m basically proving a few points: (a) you can batch paint many minis, even larger models, in one big go (b) batch painting helps plow through more mundane features like horses and base colors that all the models share and (c) yes, you can paint two or more different unit types in a single batch - Cuirassiers and Hussars aren’t the same at all uniform wise, but there are enough similarities that they can easily be painted together.
I hope you’ll enjoy this video and pick up a few tips for your next painting project. Enjoy!
