Years ago I wasn't a fan of the 30k series of models but now it's grown on me. Really love those paint schemes for the original legions.

It's taken a while for me to come around on them, but there's a certain clunky, angry charm to the Mk III armour that's hard to pass up. Especially since they started doing plastic kits for them!

A couple of people have mentioned using the early war German Uniform Green from Vallejo for a slightly richer colour, and that would work well in its place. I prefer the slightly more grey, muted look from this, but everything's a matter of taste!
@johnkelley98774 жыл бұрын
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I prefer the model's color too because it is a more duller green than the others.

This is great little tutorial. I'll be sure to give the "Marine Juice" a try sometime. One thing regarding the eyes: The glow effect will be much more impactful if there is more dark colour around the glow. So, darkening the recess with nuln oil or black paint, then doing a much thinner white line might work a little better. I also find brighter colours like Blood Angels Red or Warp Lightning work a little better for this effect, too.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
True on the eyes, and something I'd spend the time on if I were painting Sergeants or characters. For the line infantry, though, they can go marching out the door as quickly as possible! ;D

Such a good colour. Any thoughts on an approach for a painting skitarii cloaks in a worn leather look..steampunk/wildwest inspired? Thanks
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
'Leather' is such a broad range of colours it's hard to just settle on one. Something like Mournfang Brown or Vallejo's Leather Brown would be nice, rich and darker colours - shade with Nuln Oil, highlight with the base colour again and go for a slightly brighter brown to highlight. Or something like Vallejo Mahogany Brown shaded with Agrax Earthshade looks great with a Vallejo Red Leather highlight. That's much warmer and probably would look better maintained than you're thinking, at a guess, but worth looking at.

How is Vallejo's black compared to Abaddon Black tone wise? I'd love me a black that covers like a dream.

It's more or less identical. Dries slightly more matt, but otherwise it's the same thing. Especially once it's shaded and varnished!

Do you think using Vallejo model colour Light Green Blue would give a better look than Administraum Grey?
@SonicSledgehammerStudio3 жыл бұрын
I couldn't really say. I don't have it to compare. Honestly, I think a cool grey helps pull away some of the green from the final finish, but if you wanted that then you could try Light Green Blue and see how it looks.
