Thank you very much for this - I used it as the basis for my own scheme with some minor alterations. If you're interested, the only real changes I made were; Using a sponge instead of stippling for the mottling effects. Using Aeldari Emerald contrast + contrast medium instead of black templar for a brighter, greener appearance.

Great video. The most useful bit for me was actually the primer! Was looking for a good primer for Alpha Legion tanks!

Great video. Just getting started so keeping it as simple as possible is fantastic. Also not too many colours, so not expensive to buy the paints

I do mine this way, and I hope you try it too! because legit the results are amazing! I do Kabalite green over Mechanicus Grey primer (and it has to be grey), just one messy coat of it since you want that grey color to show through the layer paint. Then you Drybrush Sybarite green, this is supposed to be the main color. Finally, and optional, but I still do it; I take the Dry Paint Hellion green (Which is out of production I think- so just use Gauss blaster green, its the same color just not in the Dry range), and do that OVER the Sybarite, but very lightly so that you dont over take the Sybarite. Its stupid fast and basically how I did my whole legion in like 2 nights!

Honestly this is such a great tutorial, it's so easy to follow and simple, and yet in my opinion looks better than the eavy' metal scheme, great job man

So far I've done a ten man squad of mark 3s the way GW did in their legion guides, I think I'll have to try this way to see which I prefer, the end result looks really good!!

Do you think this could work over vehicles?
@ThePaintingCoach2 жыл бұрын
Yes but you would have to focus the shade into the recesses - you can thin it with contrast medium to shade into the deeper parts to add some shadow as well

may i know the base coat again? staggered scale green?
@ThePaintingCoach2 жыл бұрын
I used a spray from Colour Forge called Drake Scale Green - if you can't get hold of this then you can use Stegadon Scale Green over a black primer for the same effect - hope that helps!

Good to know! Just vallejo gloss varnish but anything will do - AK Interactive or Stormshield

Interesting technique. Unfortunately my experience with Contrast paints taught me that they'll dry way faster than expected, so the Black Templar/Medium switch scares me a tad too much to experiment on a mini. ;-D I think I'll try to use a Speed paint equivalent and take advantage of that reactivation factor - a thing that I've already used to smooth out tide marks.

Hi. Great tutorial, my friend has these, so I've forwarded them the link. One question, what brush do you use for the tiny details, it seems to have one hair on the end? Looks like it makes stiffling techniques and insane details easy to do! You just get better each time I watch the tutorial videos. Thank you. Kind regards Ian
@ThePaintingCoach2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ian - I appreciate it and I also appreciate the share! As for brushes, I use a few in this video but the one I think you are asking about is a Winsor & Newton Series 7 Miniature, size 0. These brushes have the same tip as the normal Series 7, but a much smaller belly so you need to move fast as the reservoir of paint is almost non existent on them. Hope that helps!
