This is fantastic. I’d never guessed that neutral or slightly positive loading is better for speed than inhibitory loading.

Love these sport science videos, been binging some of your older content lately and its super educational. Thanks!

sprinters need to do two things - improve sprint technique, which is done via sprinting/speed drills, and second, be able to apply more force into the ground with each stride while minimizing weight gain, which is done with low-rep weight training. And lo and behold that's all they really do, work on sprinting and work on getting stronger via periodized weight training. Everything outside of technique does ultimately come down to F=MA. With that equation we find that Speed = Strength per Bodyweight (Acceleration=Force/Mass)

Don’t know if you guys are still planning on uploading the follow up videos on techniques for real athletes to develop speed, but as a parkour athlete I’d love to see them. Thanks

I'm really hoping Parkour athletes can get some love. We don't really have developed S&C principles (yet)

So with the 'facilitatory' loading would you advocate band-assisted jumps? Where you pull the band down with your hands and jump?

hi guys, awesome content! Where can I find the rest of the videos regarding speed/bar velocity type of training?

So running up a hill may not be ideal, but does it promote better technique? For example, higher knee drive? Or do the negatives outweigh the positives? Great video, thank you!

Did you ever do the specific video on speed in weightlifting you tease at the end of this?

So with your example of a sprinter going up hill. Would that help with an acceleration phase of sprinting while something like a pulley that does over speed training is more for top end speed? Just what I’ve heard from coaches while being trained for 100m and 200m sprinting.

Weighted jumps really dont increase jump height? Is there any use for them?

Hi guys, love the quality content, in your real athletes video, will you cover throws specifically the development of speed-strength as the end goal as opposed to purely speed in sprints? Will this mini series cover the development of all aspects of the force velocity curve?

One of the videos will cover the force velocity curve and each of the points along it so speed strength will definitely feature heavily in our real athletes video 👌

This video becomes insanely funny if you pretend they are talking about meth every time they say speed.
