Modern trains with spaces out electric motors have very good acceleration. I with they pushed the motors more. It'll save a lot of time for local stoppers as they save a lot of time accelerating and breaking.

The schedule is set up so it doesn't matter what unit, they can all keep to time (theoretically). And since that includes 319s still, the schedule reflects that, and the 331s have no need to go fast. Once the 319s go however, the schedule will likely be changed to 323 timings, letting us see a bit more from the 331s, although still not their full potential.

yeah but it's a nothingburger. Speed and acceleration is down to the driver and signal distancing. If you've got a good distance to the next signal and you're ready to stop for it then I see no issue vs continuous full power with the next signal 150 yards down

It looks impressive but the speed is actually a lot slower than a modern train would be passing a single yellow. When the HST sets were introduced on the ECML it used to be said that under 4 aspect signalling you run at 125mph on greens, 100mph on double yellow and 60mph on a single yellow. As a rough guide 4 aspect signals are placed about 1200yds apart, a HST in a emergency (under ideal conditions) can stop from 125mph to zero in about 1400yds. In effect it means if a driver has 200 - 300yds sighting of a single yellow even a 125mph he ought to be able to stop the red.

It's not easy to assess the speed in the video but I kinda looks like 30 - 40 mph, with modern traction a driver wouldn't ordinarily be concerned about travelling at that speed on a single yellow.

Sorry to bust your idea brake handle and power handle is combined so above is impossible....there is a hill start function but that doesn't keep the full brake presure on the disks and wouldn't give effect you where describing....just powerful motors....dry rail...and straight to max power! Oh and as a electric powered train fed by ohl...few or no other trains in section drawing power...
