Hopefully GM is watching this channel. It looks like he's tracking his cars more than anyone else. Would be a good vehicle to study the effects of abuse.

@jeremiahmcmullen44634 жыл бұрын
John D While I agree with your statement on using this C8 as a vehicle to study, their is a difference between running 6 miles for exercise and tracking your car.If you run for 6 miles and come back home, you'll be exhausted, but all you gotta do is rest for a day or two and you'll be back to normal, running 6 miles wouldn't make your life span shorter, but, actually longer.Versus tracking a car like the C8 would only be abusive to it if you did it continually, and didn't cruise and let the car relax and take care of it correctly.This car was made to be tracked and Chevrolet put a lot of money into developing it, also this is the first year of the C8 Corvette meaning it could have issues down the line that Chevrolet will have to fix on newer year C8's.

I once raced this track and managed a few laps on it. I recall the curve coming into the home straight and leaning on the accelerator all the way into left-hander turn one. I recall there being track markers, three, two, one and then the left. I'd tap the brake slightly to bring the nose of my 914 down and then slide into turn one while tromping on the throttle of my little mid-engine 1.7 liter Porsche. The before I knew it, I was into turn two which I recall to have been a constant radius turn, meaning the speed going in, for me was th speed coming out of the turn. All the rest of the turns were looking ahead and attempting to set up the apexes, including the small severe uphill section (I can only imagine the corkscrew!). Then I had to deal with a darn chicane which the PCA people put in. I had the 3rd fastest gross time and fifth overall fastest time for the Novice PCA 914 Division. I'll always remember that event in 1975.

My driving experience is on hold right now as the tracks near me are still closed. I do plan to take advantage of the Ron Fellows offer before the year is up. The Cup 2 tires are too sticky for drifting and the rubber tends to come off in chunks. What G's is this car pulling on Cup tires? So far on stock street tires I have achieved .94 G's on corner turns without any drama. Can't wait to unleash this car on the track. I love your C8 content, your humble demeanor, and high quality media. I have an odd request/suggestion. I went to watch this on the home theater setup to get the full effect of 75"@4k and full spectrum audio I found that there's a *lot* of very loud low-frequency noise coming through your recordings. The wind buffeting was crazy loud, but even in the closed cabin car shots, just your handling of the camera made tons of sub-bass sounds. The bass was overpowering the speech at some points. yes, I turned off my subs, but that took away from some of the engine sound. Could you enable a sub-sonic filter on your recordings? or enable some audio-weighting to reduce the low frequency noise? maybe 20dB down at 40 Hz? Hope I don't come across as nit-picking your awesome channel - maybe it's just my setup? And how many sets of Cup-2 tires have you gone through already?

Do the Cup 2's wear better on track than the PS 4's did that first time you went out? That looked like it might be a problem with this car.
@SpeedPhenom4 жыл бұрын
The Cup 2s are very good for the C8! It all depends on how hard you push the car. All track cars go through tires pretty quickly it seems like... The main thing I need to make sure to do is constantly switch the wheels on either side to make sure to get the most life out of these tires as possible. But overall the Cup 2s lasted around two and a half track days while driving hard. The stock PS4 S tires still look brand new. For track use the main recommendation I can give is to use the track alighment settings found in the owners manual, it helps with wear a lot.
