OK, so what if... Omochao was supposed to be a version of Chaos, Eggman made, since Chaos mutated from Chao. The experiment didn't go well though, because Omochao never had a lust for power and also NEVER SHUT UP EVER and therefore stayed in his Chao state and used his powers to do stupid stuff like give hints. Though you may be wondering... why not start out with a full size Chaos? Well, Eggman made Omochao small and cute, to lure Sonic into a trap, where Omochao would turn huge using the power of the Chaos Emeralds. Fortunately though, after that failure, Eggman discovered some papers on The Ultimate Lifeform and where it's being kept.

Okay, so in order to see Tikal's story unfold the player needs to: 1) Start with Sonic and immediately change to Tails once they have the ability to play as him. 2) Play through Tails' story. 3) Play through Knuckles' story until Tikal's first flashback happened. Then switch to Amy. 4) Play through Amy's story. 5) Play through E-102 Gamma's story. 6) Play through Big's story. 7) Go back to Knuckles and finish his story. 8) Finish Sonic's story. 9) Finish Super Sonic's story to find out how the fire scene started happening (because you can't play as Super Sonic before Sonic). Sonic (up until Emerald Coast)->Tails->Knuckles until flashback 1->Amy->Gamma->Big->Knuckles->Sonic->Super Sonic ...Sonic's story kinda is irrelevant, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter if you're playing as Sonic or not. As long as you've met a character for the first time, you should unlock them. For my first playthrough ever, I was stuck with Sonic so I completed Tails' story and once I met Big in Tails' story, I unlocked him.

You know, it never occurred to me that she was talking to the Master Emerald. I always thought she was talking to Chaos and the ripples were how Chaos communicated. I mean I guess in SA1 the Master Emerald is sentient. I mean it tells Knuckles where the last three Master Emerald Shards are. They definitely dropped this concept in SA2.

I'm pretty sure it actually was Chaos who communicated through the ripples, there were a few errors in the order as well. Big's Flashback was an immediate follow up to what Amy saw with Tikal gaining the guardian's permission to be there after her initial shock when meeting Chaos. I also was under the belief that the Knuckles 1st Flashback took place after she already had befriended the chao.

It's amazing how just listening to the Japanese version makes me like Tikal and makes me care for her story SO much more than the english version. It helps that here she sounds like an actual character with emotions and not just an actress reading from a script. Plus, she just has such a sweet sounding voice. It's a shame that Kaori Aso hasn't been hired to do more roles (although she was the Japanese VA for Jasmine in Aladdin and Blossom in PPG so her CV does have weight to it) because she's a joy to listen to.

This is the first time I've heard Tikal speak in Japanese. She sounds so cute! I've heard and I'm used to her speaking English. She's cute there, too! You know what? She's all around cute in any language she speaks! 😘 When I think about the story of what happened to Knuckles past ancestor tribe, it's pretty dark. I never thought about it as a kid. @@emmanuelharris6445 Her grandmother was the old leader of the tribe. She was a peaceful pacifist lady that was against war and violence. Her son did not agree with her views and thought it made their tribe weak and pushovers. So when he took over as leader he changed the tribe to be tough strong warriors to be able to fight wars. I think he was so busy being the leader that his mom was the one who raised Tikal mostly so she inherited her grandmother’s peaceful views. But her father was too corrupted by greed and pride to see anything else.

I really enjoy there being a compilation of Tikal's story, especially since she's my favourite Sonic character, and I really appreciate avoiding the poor localization decisions in the story, but only having the summaries for the segments as opposed to, say, new subtitles, was a bit disappointing. This an adventures 2s stories were amazing. This in my opinion were first few things that are of Sonics backstory. I really wonder if Tikal knows all about sonic because she and her clan were told by something or someone that he would come and save the world. Chaos is the god of destruction, but what is sonic the god of then? I think he is likely something along the lines of the god of life due to him never every wanting or wishing death upon someone. What ever the case to who sonic is based on the hints of 2d classic game and the adventure games, the stories at the time were under appreciated.

Adventure 2's story was better. Why? Because it doesn't end with a city being destroyed making the character's efforts throughout the entire game pointless. Not to also mention Chaos gets off scot free for basically destroying an entire city and drowning millions of innocent people nor is implied to feel any remorse for what he did. Also Chaos isn't a god the whole god thing was something the echidnas called him. He's just a chao who turned into a weird liquid monster for some reason. Hell Sonic Frontiers (don't care if it wasn't out yet at the time) reveals the Chao are just a bunch of aliens that once resembled Chaos that had become mutated over years of living on Sonic's world and Chaos somehow was reverted back to the original form.

I've always had a headcanon that since Tikal was trapped in the master emerald along with its original guardian (chaos), her spirit manifested new guardians over the years to protect it since she couldn't. Knuckles is one of these manifestation, it's how he's seemingly been their all his life with no remembrance of a family or up bringing.

@@SteveCrafts2k Pretty sure the implication is Angel Island used to be a part of the main land around where the Mystic Ruins is located back when the echidnas were still around and before people discovered it. Then after the whole issue with Chaos the land where the Master Emerald is broke away from the main land thus becoming the floating island through the Master Emerald's power. The island falling right near the Mystic Ruins is probably a massive coincidence and probably not in the exact same spot it was once was as part of the mainland. Though never understood how the Master Emerald even changed locations. The flashbacks and present day location of it in Adventure 1 show its like outside in a small temple like shrine. Yet Sonic 3&K its located on a rock pedestal inside Hidden Palace Zone which is like in a giant underground cavern on next to Lava Reef (which I assume Red Mountain is close to considering its on Angel Island and the volcanic activity in it)

Probably, but we know that Gerald Robotnik had the Chaos Emeralds when he was creating Shadow (as he knows how to perform Chaos Control) and constructing the Eclipse Cannon. So what happened was probably: -The Chaos Emeralds went to South Island in order to be more safe after the whole Chaos thing -They stayed there until Gerald collected them -After the GUN invasion, 1 of them went back to South Island, while the other ones went to North Island or whatever the Sonic 1 island is called -After Sonic 1, the 6 emeralds reunited with the other one in South Island. -After 3&K, they once again scattered, but this time 1 of them fell into Angel Island (or to be more precise Icecap) while the other 6 fell into nearby land, 2 in Station Square (the first Tails Emerald and the Casinopolis Emerald) and 4 into the Mystic Ruins (Windy Valley, Big, Bird, and the middle of the Jungle)

up until this point i never understood a single bit of tikal's past for 2 reasons: 1. english dub makes way less sense then japanese subbed. 2. all the scenes are not in order. i never knew tikal and chaos were sealed in the master emerald. it does explain why the master emerald shattered and why chaos was able to sneak up on knuckles and why tikal was there as well almost unnoticeable imo. apparently chaos was also a greater version of a chao (it's actually in its name) which seriously no one could think at 1st. it also explains why angel island is floating in the air. this is all kind of obscure with the english dub because they are so vague.

I am playing this game now and what I like is to play Sonic's story up to right before Lost World and Knuckles's story up to right before Sky Deck, the come back and finish once all other stories are done. This way, all of the story's end flashbacks are shown near the end of the game.

That's Debatable, I see Amy's then Big's then Gamma's Flashbacks all taking place before Knuckles Flashbacks. Amy's was 1st meeting with Chao, Big's was were she was told it was ok for her to be there with the Chao, then Gamma's had Tikal already well familiar with the chao. Knuckles 1st 2 Flashbacks are more the beginning of the end for Tikal, with his 1st Flashback being an attempt to plead with Pachacamac to not attack the chao & take the Emeralds from them. The 2nd Knuckles Flashback is Tikal trying to get Chaos & the chao to leave so that her father's attack wouldn't succeed only to find out they are unable to leave. Maybe it was in retrospect, to tie it into the lore, since at this point the chaos emeralds were already a thing in all the 16-Bit games. If I recall, this was the first reboot of the world (or alternative timelime/universe/whatever).

DanielRotwind it wasn’t really a reboot since humans always existed in the same world as Sonic (I mean we’ve always had Eggman after all), and there were a lot of cities and such in the background of levels, it’s just this game brought a lot of that to the forefront.

I think I see some connections between the characters and each flashback: 1. Tails' power, aside from flying and tinkering with machinery, comes from his kind heart and loyalty to his friends, plus his tenacity to continue in hard times and development independent from Sonic to "[b]elieve in [him]self" like his song says. 2. Knuckles is learning the history of his people and ancestors, seeing how they got to the Master Emerald whose fragments he's trying to retrieve. 3. Amy has formed a connection with Birdie (similar to Tikal's with Chaos and the Chao), who has a Chaos Emerald in his locket, with Dr. Eggman seeking it in a similar manner to Pachacamac's mad quest for more power for his people. 4. Gamma eventually goes on a quest to "liberate" his brothers from servitude to their master, with the Chao foreshadowing the Flickies inside Beta, Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta. 5. Big is trying to save Froggy from the Chaos piece inside him (which he doesn't know, on top of the anuran having an emerald that the mega feline calls his "lucky charm") and he decided to live in the Mystic Ruins to escape from the bustle and rush of the city (a similar situation to Tikal's attempts to escape her father's propaganda about conquest and violence). 6. Knuckles is further learning about the Master Emerald, fitting his role of making sure no harm comes to it, and it's dawning on him that his people's legends weren't all they were cracked up to be (and some even had unsavory aspects). 7. Sonic is eventually going to transform into Super Sonic, being the one with the positive energy of the emeralds (in contrast to Chaos' negative energy), seeing which gives him the idea to destroy Chaos' hate and liberate the water from the sadness and fury consuming it for 3,000 years plus. 8a. Knuckles' entire world has come crashing down, and he's been witness to one of the most horrific atrocities committed by one of his ancestors' leaders. 8b. Sonic is getting the idea of unifying Tikal and Chaos (again, continuing from the connection in flashback 7), seeing that resealing them will continue the conflict forever, and instead opting to restore Chaos' faith in humanity and showing the Chao coexisting with everyone else. He's getting a clue on what the true power of the Chaos Emeralds can do and what their connection means (which is further explored in _Sonic Frontiers_ about 24 years later). 8c. Sonic is further forming his decision from 8b, seeing the bond between everyone (himself, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big, Gamma, Birdie, Froggy, Gamma's Flicky, Tikal, Chaos, and the Chao; with the second four and the eighth even bringing the former the emeralds and the ninth two bearing witness to the latter) and deciding to restore it rather than let past wounds fester. What connections do you think you see?

Tails = Tikal remembering her Grandmother's poem/prayer about the Chaos Emeralds. Amy = Tikal first meeting Chaos and the Chao. Big = Tikal meeting the Master Emerald. Gamma = Tikal explaining that Chaos is actually a peaceful and well-meaning guardian that just wants to protect the Chao. Knuckles(1) = Tikal begging Pachamak to not use the Chaos Emeralds for self gain. Knuckles(2) = Tikal warning the Master Emerald about Pachamak. Knuckles(3) = The rise of Perfect Chaos. Sonic(1) = The fallout of the Knuckles Clan's actions. Sonic(2) = Why Chaos destroyed the Knuckles Clan and how/why he was sealed away inside the Master Emerald in the first place.
