It still looks like a lot of people are resistant about seeing the Goldback as an alternative currency. With Goldbacks expanding in to Florida hopefully the concept of GB as an alternative currency will spread. Although there is a USD amount that Goldbacks are pegged to on a variable basis. It would help for people not to think about Goldbacks in terms of dollars. The premium that everyone seems to have trouble with is the cost of making the gold content hyperfractionable in a reliable, physically securitized format. It always amazes me how people think that this can be achieved with no cost. All products have a production cost. The beauty and strength of the Goldback is not only its hyperfractionality, but also the fact that it is so darn hard to counterfeit. Imagine if gold reaches $5K an ounce. There is not a reliable piece of gold small enough that can be used for small transactions out side of a Goldback.
@kenofken945815 күн бұрын
Goldbacks are not hard to counterfeit. They're hard to do at an amateur level, but you can bet state actors like China, Russia or North Korea could produce counterfeits that would be indistinguishable to most people.
@robertwalker845315 күн бұрын
@ Before you make that assertion please read up on the counter measures. One of the counter measures that Goldback are made with is that have specific color and transmission wavelength that’s specific to a particular thickness of gold which is a unique physical property that can only be confirmed with radio spectrometer. There is no counterfeiting that physical property in other words it is an immutable physical property. Russia can barely keep their planes in the air over the Ukraine and North Korea ballistic technology is still infantile that’s why they’re sending troops to the Ukraine to get slaughtered so that Russia will give their ballistic program a boost; nevertheless, neither Russia, North Korea or America for that matter can change the laws of physics. Secondly Goldbacks have a precise electrical resistance that is specific to the exact thickness and content of gold in the note. This value of resistance cannot be counterfeited it is a unique physical property of gold; the only way to replicate it this to have the exact amount and thickness of gold that is in a Goldback. So your assertion that they are easily counterfeited, whether you agree with use case premise of Goldbacks or not, is erroneous. You may want to tell me that I am a shill or asshole but that does change the fact that-SCIENCE STILL MATTERS!.
@kenofken945815 күн бұрын
@@robertwalker8453 How many regular people or retail outlets will have a sophisticated suite of testing instruments on hand at all times? An XRF gold tester runs around $20,000 per. Counterfeiters don't have to be able to fool the engineers and scientists at the legitimate issuing government. They just have to make something good enough to pass a layperson's reasonable inspection. Things like holograms, micro printing, special strips that react to UV or IR light will deter the DIY crook, but they are all well within the scope of state actors and even large criminal organizations. What will save the goldback in the short term is the fact that the market for them isn't big enough to justify the production costs for professional counterfeiters. If the market for these things ever grows beyond a handful of millions to multi-billion dollars, you'll see counterfeits. I'd be very surprised if one or more bad actors has not already done some serious R&D on the possibilities.

In regards to goldbacks, I think they are nice collectible but considering there may be $2.50 worth of gold in a goldback and would cost approximately $28 to extract that Gold, in my mind It simply does not equate. However they look nice, they are money related and they may suit some collectors but definitely not a Stacker, for this reason I could never see them used as currency.
@SpegtacularАй бұрын
Wait.. why does it cost money to extract the gold?
@robertwalker8453Ай бұрын
Goldbacks are do not exist to have the gold extracted; that is the antithesis of the purpose for the Goldbacks which is an alternative voluntary currency based on hyperfractionalized gold that is secure and reliable. If you melt them down you defeat the purpose. The Goldback is not just the gold; it’s the gold and the high tech security features.
@robertwalker8453Ай бұрын
@@Seven-Seven-77 In fact, I would go a step further and argue that it takes a cost of $28 (by your estimation) to liberate the gold from a Goldback that should be a clear indicator of the cost (“financial energy”) tied up in a Goldback which translates into the utility value that it has beyond just its gold component. The billet of steel used to make a high end knife may only be worth $10 but when the steel has been worked, processed and forged in a knife that can provide great utility and value in allowing its user to perform many tasks that would otherwise be more difficult than the value of the knife exceeds $10. You could melt the knife back down into a billet worth $10 but then the value of its greater utility as a knife is lost.
