Spektrum Quick Hit Tech Tip - How to Use Firma Prog Text Gen Menu to Program ESC from Transmitter

In this video Tom explains to our fellow RC enthusiasts how, with the latest transmitter update (V1.09 or higher) and ESC updates (see update link below for log and version), you can adjust Firma Smart ESC settings right from your telemetry capable Spektrum surface transmitters! This currently is supported on the DX5C, DX5R, DX5 Pro, and DX5 Rugged models. DX6R update is coming soon to include this feature.
If you have or are looking into the Spektrum Firma Smart Sensored ESC for Crawlers, this is a MUST HAVE!
Please note this will not work on older transmitters, such as the DX4R AND it does not work with the DX3 or DX2e Active with the Dashboard app.

I got a Losi with Firma 130a and spektrum eletronics all around, unfortunately I cannot see that screen, my DX5 transmitter is up to date, I already use the esc program with my Firma censored crawler setup. I also updated the receiver on the Losi and still not able to program from the DX5. Any tips? thanks.

I updated my DX5c to get this feature and telemetry with my SCX6 but I’m not getting any telemetry or prog menu. All I’m getting is the Rf quality.

I have completed all the steps, the Firma Prog screen appears but it doesnt let me get past menu 1 after steering right. I have set all steering rates above 100% and still not working. Any advice?

DX6R is discontinued so not really the flagship anymore... But yes there will be an update to include this functionality.

So the $300 dx5 pro 2021 is the "flagship"... ok. Even before the dx6r was discontinued the dx5r was getting all the support. Dx6r has barely even gotten a mention the past 4 years in any of your vids.

I have a Smart ESC 160a, SR6200a, DX5 Rugged and program menu doesn’t pop up. SR6200 is updated and DX5 is on version 1.09. Any suggestions?

Make sure you are updating you ESC with Smartlink App V1.08

Can't enter the Firma prog menu since updated my dx5c to 2.01 😞 it's a Firma 150 ESC.

Also "Inh" is not working anymore to disable the AVC. I have to set the values to 0 to disable AVC. 2.01 update is a bit disappointing for the transmitter. Also lots of bugs binding with SR6110AT...

The correct way to disable AVC is to perform the 3 button tap before binding. We have a video on it :). Your issue with getting into firma prog could have to do with incomplete or incorrect avc calibration. Make sure your travel and rates are set to around 100% when calibrating avc. Hope that helps

​@@SpektrumRCvideos Thank you very much. All clear and working now. I can enter the Prog menu now. And i just read the instructions how to disable the AVC properly. It needs the triple click on the receiver before binding. I didn't know the receiver also need the end-pont calibration right after binding. Make sense why I was struggling. (Maybe I would suggest to take out the "Inh" option from the menu as its misleading) I might just go 0% on AVC in the future instead off the triple click method and when i need AVC I don't need rebinding, just set the percentage up . Also after binding and calibrating the receiver I put back the servo travel to 78% (so my servo wont struggle further ) and i can still enter the menu which is very good.

@spektrumrc I have a Firma 100A and an updated DX5c. However I can’t get the menu to work. I do the first step, turn right for 5 seconds and it never goes to the second step. I have a SR6200A receiver. Is my receiver the problem?

I have the same problem also if anyone figures it out. I was able to access program menu when I turned AVC off at binding, but not with AVC on.

I noticed the description notes says the sensored esc comes with this feature so no update needed. Should I take this statement to mean or imply that all of the other ESCs must first be updated to the latest software to access the esc programming page on the dx5 transmitters? If so this should have been stated directly in the notes and the video. I just purchased the 2021 DX5 Pro to use with my Tenacity DB Pro with Firma 130 esc and SR6100AT receiver and I'm not seeing the Firma programming screen on the transmitter. I'm hesitant to go out and spend $30 on the programming card because I'm not certain if that will solve the problem. Does my receiver software need to be updated too? Does the programming card come with a cable that can be used to update the receiver or is that cable a separate purchase?

Your Receiver is ready for this function, but you will need to update the Firma 130 esc.

Hey I have a Dx5c with the Firma 150 esc, I cannot find the esc prog menu on my radio. I updated the transmitter to the latest software and I also updated the esc to the latest software as well. Any advice ?

Yeah I have even called several times and they have no clue what I am even referring too. I don’t get it as I have even quoted this video for them. Still no response and all I want to do is utilize a feature they say should work with my radio , esc, and receiver.

@@BareFinn1986 probably they gone do another extra cable that you need to buy to make it working. Their marketing strategy is very dirty. making tons of money from extra cables and connectors.

Running DX5 Pro 2021, SR6200A receiver, and the crawler esc combo. Everything is up to date and still can't get into the Programmer. Won't register "Right Steer". Travel and Rates are set to 100%.

Did you ever get this figured out? I have the same combo of equipment as you and I have not been able to get this feature to work. It’s quite frustrating as I do not know where the issue lies.

@@ZeonStar77 did you get it figured out? sometimes mine takes longer than 5 seconds.... sometimes even like 10 or 15 seconds of 'right turn' before the screen changes to 'left turn'. Could that be the issue you're having? Maybe try holding right turn longer?

@@Jrod_FPV I never did get it resolved. The only way I have ever gotten it to work was to rebind my Receiver and completely disable AVC during binding. Not really practical for me to do that so I kind of had to abandon this working for me. Having said that, I don't think I have tried to hold it for as long as you suggested. I think I will give that a try when I have a moment.

@@Jrod_FPV Still won’t work for me. I held it for 20+ seconds. Tried setting my sub trims to normal, my trims, set everything AVC related to 0% but I still can’t get it to get past Menu1.

yay....i have the spektrum crawler esc and 2 spektrum dx6r transmitters...been asking support for a update, but earlier this year they said they wouldn't do raceware update
