I think this curriculum is exactly what I've been wanting for my son! He's an advanced reader, 8 yo, but with a very logical, engineering type brain, and he spells phonetically. So I think the etymology and the breakdown of the spelling patterns will be perfect for him. And your video helped seal the deal.

I would really love to know what you think of this once you use it!! I am trying to decide fully if it's what we want to go with.

Glad I found you. Interesting and just what I think I've been looking for for good readers but not so good spellers. Question: I've looked for this on Amazon. What I see doesn't look like the same covers I see here in your video. Is what you're showing the newest, latest version of Spellography [Teacher & Student Lesson Book A]? Are the editions I'm seeing on Amazon the same as what you're previewing here? Are they the newest versions? What or where would you suggest I get the Teacher & Student A books from? Also, I'm an online teacher. How will I be able to use the Student Lesson Book with my students online? Thanks in advance for your help and the great review. 😊

Search 95 Group or Tools 4 reading and you can buy them there on that website

Do you think this would be okay for a 3rd grade struggling speller? I know it includes 3rd grade in the description of who this program is for, but I just wanted input on if 3rd grade would be too young. My daughter is a fabulous and wonderful reader, and I have been having a hard time finding a good spelling curriculum, been shopping around for months now. Your video of this curriculum is extremely helpful, as I have never heard of it before. I'm strongly leaning towards Spellography after watching your video, just wanted to get your thoughts before fully committing.

Thank you for the flip through. Would you consider perusing Apples & Pears for spelling by sound foundations in the UK? (They have american english editions.) There are a lot of old comments about it on the well trained mind forum. It is not orton gillingham, but morphemic in approach. It’s open and go scripted, spiral review through word and sentence dictations. Levels a and b really accelerated my child’s ability to write in real life and across her curricula. It’s like really excellent fluency practice for spelling! We started my 7 year old after she had finished Recipe for Reading. We also review the spelling rule cards fro Spell to write and read, and can analyze spelling patterns that arise it words that trick her up.

Also from the samples it seems similar to Engelmann’s spelling mastery, but much easier for a homeschool parent to purchase.

What are your thoughts on this curriculum vs all about spelling for a struggling 5th grader? We started all about spelling which requires you to start at level 1. We flew through it, but it seems the program has a lot of elements that appear “baby-ish” to my son. That also leads me to my next question, if we do switch to this program would we need to start at the beginning?

Hi! This is exactly who the program is geared towards - older students who struggle with spelling. If your son is a decent reader, this would be a good fit. I would recommend starting at level A. It really is unlike any spelling program out there.

My daughter is a 6 th grader she just turned 11 I don’t know how to evaluate her reading level. Intuitively I would say she’s almost fluent but 🤷🏻‍♀️ do you have a good resource for testing this ?

If you’re looking to assess fluency, there’s a book called “3 minute reading assessments” by Rasinski and Padak that’s what I use in school!
