Nice watches. Great video. I would have loved to see the entire servicing of these pieces, but I understand the time it takes to film and edit these videos. So I'm happy to see what we get to see. Thanks Spencer. Hope you and the family are doing well.

I enjoyed this rebuild a lot. I also enjoy your good humor when things don’t “magically” fall into place. I’ve run into problems with the quickset (I think it’s called the star wheel or gear) and was wondering if you have an older video that features that part of these 5000 series movements. Thanks for posting!

After you pulled the stem how does the movement come out of the case? I'm working on one at present and can't quite figure it out. It looks like there might be a retaining ring that slips out but its not coming out easily.

Hello Spencer . Another informative and excellent video. I have a 1971 King Seiko 5625 / 7110 that keeps excellent time but the only concern is that the automatic works does not seem to wind the watch so at present I treat it as a manual wind. Is this a common concern with these movements or a straightforward fix? Thanks for any advise Dave uk

Hey, Spencer. Awesome video. What is your opinion on the Daini 52 movements vs the Suwa 56 movements? I'm a Daini fanboy, so I'm biased, but I wanted to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I’d be interested in this too. I have a 52 in the basket, another 2 coming from japan next week 🙏

I have experience with both. The suwa model is a little less conventional but once you know what you’re doing it’s potentially more straightforward. The plastic datestar was a killer for them and what put the Daini as more robust. By the end the Daini movements were better.. BUT they usually ended up in 34mm watches vs 36mm from Suwa and bigger is now more desirable

@@demon1spence the daini dials are small indeed. also maybe I’ve been lucky but of the half dozen 5606 i’ve picked up only one one had the grey plastic star, complete shredded. One, an intact black plastic star and the remaining were metal.

@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you Spencer for your wisdom! Would be insightful to see a comparison to a 5245/6(monocoque) as well! I initially thought this was one but 56 indeed 👍 beautiful result.

Best ways to separate the crystals from the rim is ultrasonic or boiling water. It’s $5 change compared $100 for the NOS

You can also use Sternkreuz XMF300. The 1.5m has the best shape and a good bevel

do u sell the black dial ks 5625? im interested to buy the dial
@SpencerKleinVintageWatch Жыл бұрын
I don't take apart complete watches, and basically never sell dials because they would cost more to replace than they would ever sell for.

Unfortunately the case is overpolished.
@MrMadvillan3 жыл бұрын
I always wonder how they end up that way. like how do you manage to take off that much material or maybe it’s been polished by a bunch of different people. anyhow, the movement and dial are quite clean.

that 7040 is polished to death, unfortunately

Those are 5246 calibers, progenitors to 4S calibers. High end Seiko.
@SpencerKleinVintageWatch Жыл бұрын
I'd say the 4S are a 1:1 remake of the 5246 movement - they're identical. Interesting that Seiko kept all the tooling and specs, and could just run up the line again.
