Etsy would be so much better if they enforced the "no reselling" rule better. Too many shops just sell the same cheap stuff from China that they don't make themselves and it damages and hides the true creators that exist on the platform. There are a lot of rules that Etsy sets that they don't enforce and the makers suffer for it.

It's so true! Honestly I only go to Etsy these days for custom knit plushies and little figure type things. The rest feels like it may well be amazon. Got a super cool custom dragonfly as a gift for my bf's mom, and the seller was lovely, especially since I had to look overseas for any sort of dragonfly design. It's fun to be able to actually communicate with an artist through the process, and know that there's an actual person on the other side of the transaction.

@@Snailienz i worked for an independent t shirt maker who regularly got in trouble for any nintendo related things at all, including a zelda inspired mickey head she did for a nintendo land/disney trip for someone… yet these companies can just print out copyrighted images without any of their own creativity and get away with it, it’s bizarre to me.

Etsy is a mix between people dropshipping crap from China, and actual small businesses making unique and interesting things you can't find anywhere else. It's my favorite place to shop, as long as you have the eye to filter out the crap 😂(but maybe I'm biased, as someone with a pretty successful etsy shop myself, I like supporting fellow creators lmao) It's interesting that this video has both sides of that, the handmade stuff like the sign and the charms are really cute! I've found some cute Animal Crossing acrylic charms on Etsy too, they have little bells attached to them and the artwork is adorable. Would love to see more of this style of video honestly

Etsy isn’t like sites like AliExpress, Shein, Wish, etc. The products are (usually) made by actual small business owners, so the quality can span anywhere from “obvious novice” to “a steal even at $200.” It comes fully down to the individual shop and has nothing to do with the site as a whole ^^

@@JC_JN4 You can find some amazing stuff on Etsy. Also, since it’s much less manufactured, you can find a lot of extremely customizable things (although they can be more pricey.) I got my little brother a musicbox that played a song he made, for example.
