Oh he's just unique. I live in northern Minnesota on the shores of Lake Superior and it gets just as cold here as it does there. Normal folk cannot just walk about out in -15 in a t-shirt, there are those guys who "are never cold" though. Blows my mind.

Tara Crosby it’s much dryer in the interior of Alaska. After it gets to -50 for a week, -20 feels good. Minnesota has more humidity than North Pole and Fairbanks area.

My parents ran a food pantry and on Christmas one of the first years they started it I was visiting them and we got a call that some one had no food. We went to this home and they had 6 people with little kids and they had no food in the house. We fellowshipped with them. It is still one of my best Christmas memories. Thank you for helping out this food pantry.

What you all did is truly beautiful. I cannot fathom how much harder being homeless is in your neck of the woods versus where I live (Florida) and a nutritious hot meal is so important. Before you started interviewing I was already thinking underwear gloves hygiene products; not sure how feasible shipping packages will be but for sure I will be donating to my local rescue mission as well as Fairbanks. And Audrey, what a special young lady she is her emotion over what you were able to do was so obvious and that just shows us that when she goes out in the world she will be part of a solution. In 1999 when I had my hysterectomy, I decided to that I would donate monthly to the homeless shelter by donating (and purchasing) the number of feminine products I used each month prior to my hysterectomy. (and over the years I have added to the amount, almost doubling the amount I spend each year). I also donate 5 gallons of bleach each month. A friend of mine and I started making a new dress or shirt for the children of the shelters each Christmas. It dawned on me after a couple of years that most people don't think about these people during other holidays like Easter, July 4th, etc.SOOOO we decided to make the clothing for the children on Easter instead. I've done this for 22 yrs now. Over the spring and summer, I look for good used clothing, (coats/boots, etc) to donate to the shelters. I donate our good used clothing so that these people might have a decent outfit to wear while job hunting. Somers Family, you really tug at my heart EVERY time I watch your videos. You remind me of when my kids where small, and the things we did as a family were close to what you are doing now. I DH & children's dad died when he was 48 yrs old, 17 yrs ago. (Yes, that makes me a GMA!.....and yes GMA's watch your videos!!!) When I watch you, it brings back bittersweet memories of the wonderful life we had and the amazing DH & Father we lost so early. Thanks for doing WHAT you do. Bert & Jessica, YOU are raising AMAZING young people!!! THANK you so much!
