Sadly, that's why they have so many in a litter. The chances are actually very low that every kitten in a litter will survive to adulthood. Now, when you have a loving home environment, and access to proper vet care, those kittens then have a far better chance of survival (up to about 80% I believe).

That poor mommy-- so scared and trying her best to protect her babies. She may not have been a feral. No one knows, and she can't tell you all that she's been through. But her state and her injuries tell a story of a painful past. I'm so grateful the rescuers are keeping her. I have faith that over time, when she fully realizes she is safe, you will see her come around. ❤

I took in a feral cat that had no human socialization. People often see feral cats and think they can domesticate them. You can't. She's been with me for over 10 years now but she is still a wild animal. We're great friends now, but her behavior is very different from what people think of from domesticated cats. These people are truly angels for taking mama cat in and giving her a better life. It's not easy.

The protective mother was smelling other animals scents on things,plus the initial fear that was upsetting her of what was going to happen.Sometimes a little food may have been more coercive to comfort her in letting anyone near her and her babies.💓🐈💖🥰👌

Poor ca.t has had a difficult, hard and painful life. She is a very protective mother too. It is right to let her spend her remaining time safe and secure in good accommodation. In time she may learn to trust but it may take her a long time.

what a wonderful cat and a good mommy too ty for keeping her and not putting her to sleep she deserves a good life, no matter if someone threw her out, or she was born outside, I rescued a kitten about 4 months old, she was close to feral and her mom (what a beauty) was feral, with time Dollie Madison warmed up and became a great cat, she was definitely the boss of the whole house and did as she pleased. It takes time with cats to come around, your little girl will in time, she just needs love. btw I have taken other ferals off the street another female and male. I had that male for over 20 years he died recently and the female lived to be 18 1/2 so there are miracles when you love these innocent fur babies. Ty for posting this video

Mama is a warrior cat, she wears the scares of defending herself. She is gorgeous, I would love to have her even if she is aggressive. Just give her the space she needs to become comfortable. I had Lionel for almost 10 years before he passed. He was terrified of me when I stode up. Eventually he would come and lay in my recliner with me when I was sitting down. Seldom let me touch him but when I did get to pet him, it made my day complete. Loved him so much. He was a warrior cat also. So I gave him the respect he was entitled to.

I rescued a litter of kittens once. The mama torti was way more feral than that mama. She wouldn’t come close to anybody and would abandon the kittens in any sign of distress. We tried to catch the mama for weeks but she was too smart. Bc of this we purposely waited to capture the kittens until right before they start getting too much street smarts themselves. All the kittens survived and were adopted out. Mama is still seen in the neighborhood from time to time. The whole neighborhood is alert and is still until this day trying to do a capture and a release.

This may sound harsh, but it doesn't look as if the rescuers knew what they were doing. They were supposedly monitoring the kittens, weighing them, etc, yet 3 of the 5 "didn't make it". That's tragic. Why weren't the mother and kittens taken to a vet immediately after their capture?😡

You do realize that kittens don't always make it, even with rescuers with decades of experience, even with medical intervention, right? This is WHY rescuers work so hard at TNR - to prevent things like this from happening in the first place.
