Hi Babel. You are a man of your word. I have recently requested this (twice) and to see this pop up on my notifications made me grin from ear to ear. As a 52 year old male born Brummie I tried most of the curry houses that specialise in Balti (cost me a fortune over the years ).It was originally created in the Sparkbrook area of the city,now know as the Balti triangle .Some cracking places to eat in and around that area. I’m getting my base gravy out the freezer to get this on today. You my friend are a absolute star.

Hey no worries and thank you so much for you patience. So pleased that this recipe made you happy and hope enjoy the recipe to. Second time it’s been mentioned about Sparkbrook area, I must visit the area when I visit in the near future, it’s been a while since I had a Birmingham Balti. Thanks again and rally hope this recipe hits the spot!! 🤤🤤🤤

Adils in the Birmingham triangle devised the Balti and was my very first proper curry in the seventies, safe to say I was hooked.

Another cracking recipe Babul 👍🏻 I’ve never had or cooked a balti but I might just give it a go now. I’ve never been a fan of those Patak pastes in the past but think I was using too much as it was too strong a flavour? Thank you for sharing 👍🏻

Hi Babel I am going to try this one next sat but with on the bone goat do you think that would be ok, I dont see why not? Also wrt to balti origins some say it orinated from the urdu name for bucket which ressembles the bucket like wok shape dish it is served and others say it originated fron the Baltistan region of Northern Pakistan and then others say the dish arrived or was conceived in Birmingham in 1971 so I dont know, Im just confused now 😆

British Balti restaurants started off in Birmingham. Although there are differing opinions, it was probably a restaurant (Adil's ?) On Ladypool Road, or Stoney Lane in the Sparkbrook area.

Hi thanks so much for sharing this, I also believe it all started in Birmingham and now it’s everywhere 😀 Not exactly sure where about or which restaurant pioneered this first, would be great to find out tho. Thanks again 🙌🙌

@@TheBengaliCook Sadly, many Balti restaurants have closed down in the area. The Balti Triangle, as it is known, used to have many restaurants to choose from. Today, it down to just a few. Back in the 80's we were spoiled for choice, but food trends change and many of those Balti restaurants have been replaced by fast food takeaways or other types of cuisine. Thanks for posting the recipe, it looks good and I'm going to give it a go.

It may not be authentic, but isn't taste more important than authenticity ? Most British Indian restaurant curries aren't authentic, but I really enjoy a lot of the food they produce.

@kd-sz1cy 2 жыл бұрын
@@ProffAndy it will taste good but most of the pre cooked steps are for quickness your sort of making a worse tasting curry but I understand his showing how it's done in the takeaways

Hey thanks for sharing, and just to echo the comments this defo isn’t an authentic style Balti, it’s adapted to suit the BIR industry, if don’t want to use ketchup then you can leave it out but I would recommend to use fresh tomatoes, about 1/2 as balti’s should have a good tomato flavour. Hope this helps and thanks again 🙌
