In an attempt to eat a healthier diet, and have flavorful, interesting food, I recently began delving int Korean cuisine. I have always loved Asian inspired food, but it was mainly the basic things that you find in American Chinese restaurants. I have been a professional chef for around 15 years, and wanted to cook authentic dishes, and came across your channel. I made this recipe a couple of days ago, and I can honestly say that it is one of the best things I have ever cooked. I look forward to watching more of your videos and cooking your recipes. Oh my! I'm in korea. I ve never tried this food because i thought it was hard to make. After warching your video, i tried it with your steamed egg. These two dishes were big hit on Friday night. And it was easy to understand. My husband and two kids loved it so much. They mixed with rice and all cleared at the end. I was so happy. Thank you maangchi. You gave our family some kind of warm feeling. 😉

I had an assuming plate of nakji bokkeum and white rice at a lunch counter in the back of my local Korean supermarket (Joong Boo market) in Chicago… it was one of the most astounding meals I’ve ever had in my entire life, and it opened my eyes to the amazingness that is Korean cuisine!!! Abdul Elmo you can use pancake syrup in replacement for the sweet rice syrup . not sure what you can replace for the onion but i’m pretty sure you can use any onion . if you like it a little more strong then use red onion

My husband grew up in new Guinea with fresh seafood galore! He was able to experience so much of the native recipes! Food is the most amazing way to learn a new culture. It's like an ice breaker! I will make this recipe and my husband will be so happy! Calamari is his favorite!

망치님 유튜브를 4일 전에 알게되었고 그때 처음본 요리가 잡채 였어요 가끔씩 먹고싶어서 인터넷에 레시피 찾아서 만들어 봐도 맛이 없었는데 망치님 레시피 그대로 따라했더니 쉽고 간단한데 너무너무 맛있어서 구독신청했어요ㅋㅋ 모든 요리를 다 따라해보고 싶지만 제가 사는곳에는 한인마켓이 조그마한 구멍가게 수준이라 소스말고는 구하기가 힘드네요 낙지볶음도 너무 맛있어보이는데 아쉽게도 당장 재료가...ㅠㅠ 그래도 보는 즐거움이 있네요 감사합니다^^

I have never tried Maagchi’s recipes, because we don’t get all ingredients here. But I enjoy her videos like crazy. Thanks to her I almost know 60% of the Korean ingredients and their I recipes. The best part of her videos is when she chops the ingredients it’s music for my ears and In the end when she eats the food, Aaah, it’s so addicting.

I tried your recipe for the first time today and i went into it blind armed with only this youtube video and all the ingredients that i somehow had around the house. I cooked it and OH MY GOSH MY WHOLE FAMILY LOVES IT i ended up improvising a bit with half a table spoon of cayene pepper instead of chilli paste, and chill peppers instead of the one you had in the video. I also added 2 table spoons of oyster sauce because i had a bit too much squid. It was awesome regardless. Thank you so much.

I made this today and it came out super delicious! Didn't get 낙지 at my korean store, so I went with 오징어 (squid) and it worked out pretty well. The squid was very tender and the amount of spice was perfect (I only used half of the 고추가루😉). Thank you maangchi for this awesome recipe! My parents were impressed😁

방금 해먹었는데 맛있어요 ! 어렵지않고 자세하게 설명해주셔서 한번에 성공했어요 ㅋㅋ 조청은 없어서 올리고당을 대신 넣었구 쿼터컵 계량을 몇미리인지 몰라서 대충 계산해보니 60미리로 하는거같아서 그렇게 했어욘 근데 데치고 전분도 다했는데 물이 많이 생겼었어요 더 데쳤어야했나? 그리고 불조절도 모르겠어서 실패할거같은 마음으루 했어유 흐 참기름은 까먹고 안넣었는데 부족함 못느꼈어요 담에 만들때도 안넣으려구요 그리고 더 매워도 맛있을거같구 김가루도 좋을거같아요 ㅋㅋㅋ 감사합니다

Im allergic to Squid so i did this with Shrimp and it was amazing... maybe I'll try using mussels next time... thanks Maangchi

@Maangchi. Hello eonni. I really want to try this out. But i am a little confused. Was no salt used in this recipe? Without salt won't it be sweet in taste. Please clear this doubt for me. I really loved how happy you looked while cooking and eating ❤️. Love from India

@@Maangchi thank you for replying eonni. I checked your website too. I only wanted to know whether the end product will be sweet in taste coz of sugar , rice syrup and no salt.? As i cant eat sweet. Can i add salt and lower the sugar quantity and skip the syrup.

I'm an Indian from Kolkata. Generally people does not eat octopus here. But I am fond of different kind of food like octopus. Your preparation was so good when I watch it, my mouth is watering.
