I love how the films establish how Mary Jane always sorta knew that Peter was Spider-Man. The first time they kiss, she touches her lips feeling like she's kissed him before. After talking about Peter with her finace, she kisses her fiance in a similar style to the upside down kiss with Spider-Man. Here, although Peter is telling her that he doesn't love her, she's not convinced and says "kiss me". That's a great character moment there!

Even taking the nostalgia layer off the top, for me, this remains the best comic book movie adaptation. The subway scene and the romance really captured the "gestalt" of issues 1 - 50. And that bittersweet ending with that shot of MJ looking hopeful but apprehensive about their future! These first 2 movies just felt more...adult somehow.

I've always felt like Kirsten Dunst's startled, confused look in that scene was some of the best active in any movie I've ever watched.
