Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse DOESN'T WORK on it's own... but I love it

The Earth-42 spider was actually supposed to bite Miles. You see it about to bite Miles when the Spot talks about bringing the spider to 1610 from 42. It’s like that spider was canonically programmed to bite a Miles, so it bit the 1610 Miles. So yeah 42 Miles was originally supposed to be Spider-Man, but ended up becoming the Prowler.

Yeah but this isn’t just a sequel. This is a part one of a 2 part story. Infinity war does not work on its own. But Avengers Age Of Ultron does. Both are a series of movies that connect to each other, but Infinity War ends at a halfway point between two films. Let’s just say, if Beyond turns out to be bad; which I don’t think it will. It would retroactively make this film worse, because it is the same story. But if Infinity War was bad; wouldn’t make Age Of Ultron worse, because that film isn’t a part one. That’s what dude was trying to say.

Thing is most movies that are part of a series have a climax and end eg empire luke loses to Vader but in this it’s just a cliffhanger kinda like deathly hallows part 1 which is why that movies is kinda not rated

I think it would be really cool to play off of this "it doesn't work as a single movie concept" when they release beyond the spider verse into theatres with a double feature (idk what its called) or something where they play both movies together. I don't know if it can happen but I would sure as hell sit down for around 5 hours and love the shit out of that Edit: probably wouldn't happen but it would be pretty cool if they re release it to theatres like February of next year or smth

A thing they should do after Beyond the Spider-Verse comes out is to make a Edited version with both Across and Beyond the Spiderverse together and call it "Spider-Man: Across and Beyond the Spider-Verse, Super-Cut", or if they wanna go really Nutz and Just edit all 3 Spider-Verse Movies together and call it "Spider-Man, Spider-Verse, Ultimate Cut" that would be something.

After going back to Into the Spider-Verse after Across the Spider-Verse, I just realized that Miles’s spider-sense turns from green and purple to red and blue. It goes from Prowler colors to Spider-Man colors. This suggests that Miles was originally on the path of Earth-42 Miles. He was set to become the Prowler’s protege as opposed to Spider-Man whereas 42 Miles was supposed to become Spider-Man. That’s such a brilliant way of playing into the theme of Miles’s story of feeling like his path is laid out for him, but he just wants no expectations. Bendis talked about giving Jefferson and Aaron a criminal past to have Miles question what his life story would be. Whether he was destined to walk in his father and uncle’s shoes. Such a subtle detail that becomes so obvious on a rewatch. This makes me even more excited for Beyond!

They're doing different Series'/Movies based on selected Spider-People. On the live-action front, Silk and Spider-Man Noir are getting solo TV projects, whilst a Spider-Woman film is in development. Meanwhile, on the animation side, there's going to be one or two Spider-Verse spin-offs, a Spider-Women movie and I think they planned on doing a Spider-Ham show at some point, don't know if that'll materialize. So not a singular anthology show, but multiple different projects.

The spider DID glitch in the first movie and then basically using that as the premise for this movie was GENIUS! The movie was good, but doesn't hold a candle to the first one in terms of writing. Beyond can still change my mind, but so far it's not as much of a masterpiece.

There is no Spiderman yet in the Sonyverse. So what if the Spot from the Sonyverse travelled to another universe with this universe's radioactive spider disrupting the canon event. As a result of which, Peter never got bitten in the Sonyverse, there is no Spiderman and only his rogues exist.

I have a hard time believing that any version of Spider-man would just go along with that instead of trying to see if there was a better option. It was a great movie but I feel like they included a bit too much stuff in this and it slowed down the pacing

In the scene where Spot's backstory is explained you can see a boy who looks like Miles with braids, so wither this is a coincidence or in the universe where spot, Prowler Miles and the spider that bit Miles are from, it was actually going to bite Miles. Little detail that I found pretty cool. Also I see no reason why Miles's dad, Gwen or any of these characters we love have to die by the end of trilogy. If they dont die and they have a "Happy ending" it would prove Spiderman 2099 wrong and show that Miles can indeed make his own story. That isnt to say it cant work if they chose to have one or more of those charecters die, but my point is that in this case, the cliche ending doesnt have to come

It is supposed to work as a trilogy 1st one stands on its own 2nd one ends on a cliffhanger or bad ending to build suspense for the next 3rd one ties everything up in a nice bow This is the same trilogy format used in Star Wars

I don't really agree that it isn't a "movie" or an incomplete one. There's a difference between story and plot. The plot is clearly established a part 1 as you said, but the story, Miles's story, does present a character arc with a clear endpoint where he starts the mivie one way and ends the movie a changed person. You can see that setup where Miles is kind of stull tryi g to figure himself out without his friends around him, and his mom gives him that speech on the water tower. Then, Miles speaks out ajd stands up to the rest of the spider heroes akd asserts his convictions, confidence, and individual identity as his universe's Spider-Man, culminating in Miles expressing to the Earth 42 version of his mom how he has come into his own and is prepared to step up to follow his convictions. If Miles experienced no character arc, I would agree that it's pretty much an entirely incomplete packagr, but there is a self-contained story within the grand scheme of the larger two-part narratove that hasn't finished yet. Great video.

I finally watched this masterpiece of a movie today, and IT WAS FREAKING INSANE! Dare I say, it was even better than no way home!🤩😧🤯 ⚠️SPOILERS!⚠️ First of all, I was really surprised to see that Miles got stuck in the universe that the spider that bit him was from! It was really strange at first when Rio said she doesn't know who Spider-Man was, but after Gwen said he was in a different universe, I understood what was going on. I still can't believe he might be fighting 3 villains in beyond the spider-verse! The spot, Spider-Man 2099, and the prowler version of miles from that other universe! And second, you forgot to talk about Donald Glover's Aaron Davis from Spider-Man homecoming finally dawning the prowler suit in across the spider-verse!🤯😆 And of course, the return of the other 3 legends from into the spider-verse: Peni, Ham, and Noir! I'M SO HAPPY THEY CAME BACK!🥺🙂 Overall, I loved everything about this movie, and I'm so excited for beyond the spider-verse!🕷🕸

Like those are films but they all somewhat don’t entirely work on their own. There are great movies that are connected that work alone though, like the Three Color’s trilogy. And I guess the Nolan Batman trilogy kind of? But I don’t know, I think it pertains to intention. I think this movie was meant to not stand alone, it feels very much like it was meant to be attached to the first film. But I get what you mean, it’s a very fair assessment
