This game was impossible. I remember when my dad came home with this game and what was usually him sitting and watching turned into the 2 of us trying to grind it out and finish it. We never did. I only ever managed to finish the 2 Spider-Man stages, the first Wolverine stage and the first Gambit stage. My dad as well but he made it further by completing the 2 Cyclops stages. We couldn't stop the Juggernaut from charging in, Storm always drowned and that second Gambit stage ruined us every time. It's beyond satisfying to finally see this game finished.

@@ThugNinja Me too! Me and my dad played it at home after he came home with it and he couldn't make it past the second Wolverine stage with the Juggernaut. The farthest I ever got was completing to the 2 Spider-Man levels and the first Wolverine stage. I kept falling onto the tracks on the Cyclops stage, the first Gambit boss killed me, I couldn't stop the Juggernaut from charging in and Storm always drowned. We liked the game but it was relentless in it's difficulty. The soundtrack kept us going, honestly.

The Genesis port was done by developer Opera House (who previously ported Midnight Resistance and Two Crude Dudes--also Data East titles), and the soundtracks for THOSE games were outstanding. It really depends on the sound programmer behind the games in the 8- and 16-bit era.

This game was unbeatable for me until I found the infinite lives glitch in Gambit's 1st level at 33:09. If you go on the top where the blue sphere is that rolls the death ball back, you can actually farm stars if you jump off and land back on the square.

This game was so much fun to play back when i was a kid, I remember me and my four brothers each having a certain amount of time to play and my brothers could never get past this stage nor storms water stage so they always gave me their turns so i could beat it lol. But cyclops was the worst and annoyingly hardest to beat because if you didnt time those jumps on the moving carts you would get those bull shit moments where you know you jumped at the right time but the cart would troll you and slow down when it reached you and then would haul ass and you would end up getting electricuted ugh and with storm I was always scared of running out of bubbles i always made sure to go back for more even if i was full i would keep getting them in fear i would get hit by the troll octopus or the troll bomb from breaking through a wall, and those electric fields complete hog wash as well lol. But seeing how you beat it in 45 mins makes me a little jealous that it would take me three of my brothers turns to finally beat the whole game. Ps my favorite stage is when storm is not under water anymore and she gets that spinning wind attack so cool

I remeber this game. Only reeason I beat this game was becausee I saved the Gambit stages until the end and used his first stage to keep getting 100 stars for 1ups (there was an area where you can jump off screen and collect a lot of stars and come out with at least 5 extra lives per run then jump in a pit to end the level without completetion). I struggled the most on Cyclops' and Storm's levels. Then my friend showed me how to beat those levesls in exchanged i showed him how to beat the Gambit an Wolverine levels. Fun times i miss games like this.

Awesome unique game. You either love it or hate it and most people just discuss how much it pissed them off and couldn’t beat it lol. One of the hardest games no doubt. What a sick sense of humor that evil Arcade! The SNES did everything better for this game though. Graphics, sound effects, presentation, music etc. this is my first time seeing the genesis version which I never knew it existed, thought it was a SNES exclusive. I never got to see the end of cyclops stages. 😂 storm and wolverine stages were hard and took a while figuring out how to beat wolverines. Storm was easy once you learn the order although it took some tries and gave you anxiety. What a unique way to make you feel what she’s going through as her weakness was claustrophobia in the comics.

How this should look is a matter of opinion. You could make the argument that this should look as it would on a CRT, but I just prefer the clearer pixels. You know, it wasn't really that the game was hard.... these levels just dragged on way too long and you never could finish one without dying. Because looking at it, I'm sure a lot of people are like "It does not look that hard" well trust me it is. As a child, all any of us could beat was the first spiderman level and I think I beat the second once. Also that storm level was practically impossible.
