After seeing this again you notice that at some point the mother read the recent newspapers about Spiderman not being a good guy. In this scene you can tell that she was on the fence about whether or not Spiderman really was a hero until her baby was saved. She wasn't just praying for her baby to be saved, but she was also hoping that whatever she had heard about Spiderman before was wrong and that he would save her baby successfully. So when he did, she blessed him because he proved right then and there that people can put their faith in him in life threatening situations.

One thing why I really love Spider-Man so much. He's not an alien, an animal, a god or a mutant. He is just a human being who wants to his powers to help people and do the right thing. And he did all of this to ensure the innocent lives won't feel the same pain as he felt when he lost his uncle. He also strives to be a symbol of hope (just like Superman) that many people should look up to. That's what makes Spider-Man so human and relatable.

1:10 This shows that deep down that cop knew that Spider-Man wasn't really a criminal. Spider-Man right then and there said that he wasn't going to come back if he went to save the seemingly trapped civilian, but that police officer knew that only Spider-Man could save that person and willingly chose to let him go despite knowing that it would mean letting him get away. A cop would NEVER do that for a person that they knew was a criminal and I like to think it shows why Peter still chooses to keep being a superhero after Green Goblin told him in how despite everything Spider-Man's done for people they will still always eventually hate him no matter what good he does for them. He sees in the police officer's decision in letting him go that despite some citizens calling for his arrest, that there are some people in New York that still know he is doing genuinely good deeds and that he's needed.

Everything about this scene is perfect. Spidey just goes in for the baby immediately, no thought for himself. We see the outsider's perspective as there's an explosion to make them think all is lost, only for Spider-Man to come out with the baby. "God bless you, Spider-Man!" The cop understands saving lives is much more important than busting a vigilante. And the Goblin fight kicks ass. Who would have thought hiring competent people who understand the material would result in an excellent product?

The fire was started by Goblin as he was there WAITING for Spider-Man. A woman briefly going to grab the mail while a baby is sleeping is not irresponsible as she obviously is only going down for a brief moment. She obviously cannot account for Goblin. And any parent in that situation where something life threatening happens but they and the kid both make it causes the parent to start being more protective and cautious.
