This is the definition of "Narcissist", and it's funny how she had no impact on his life like he did on hers like her safety. It took over 40+ years for her to realize that she was nothing special while Peter Parker was everything she thought she was, leaving behind a legacy while continuing to live and do nothing with the gift of life Spider-Man gave her.

I actually have the comic book that this story is featured. I didn't quite get the themes when I was a teenager back then. Although, now as a adult I do get that it reflects a lot of the reality of some people in general. Even when you're trying to do good in your own way there's always someone who will take the least charitable interpretation of your actions and just run with it until they can't anymore for a variety of reasons and try to paint themselves as the hero. This sort of thing only got worse with the advacement of social media, as well.

This made me realise that MJ is petty as hell. She kept track of this girl's blog for 40 whole years, and when she grew old, tracked her down just to tell her that she wasn't shit. Like Peter took her photo and probably forgot about her the next day. But MJ was like "Nah, I gotta set this b!tch straight and show her what's what." And waited 40 whole years for that. “Coincidences happen everyday. But I don’t trust coincidences.” A quote from Elim Garak of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. But there is a truth in the world, that sometimes a coincidence really is simply a coincidence. Just don’t let a coincidence get to your head until it all but defines how you live your life. If that isn’t selfish vanity, it’s paranoia.

This made me sick. Peter/Spider-Manis far from a perv. This deluded woman is another reason why I will always support Spider-Man. She will never understand why he does what he does. One of the best examples of Spider-Man proving someone wrong is when he teamed up with Emma Frost, one of the most powerful telepaths on the planet. At first she was annoyed by him nit taking everything seriously, then she looked into his mind. She was moved to tears by what she saw. All the pain and loss Peter had experienced at such a young age and understood why he makes jokes to lighten the mood and make everyone feel safe. She immediately apologised to him. And this woman would to if she was able to understand him, but she can’t and that’s sad.

“Nothing important happened today” It shows she’s still in her delusion. She could have easily have said she met Spider-Man’s widow and learned the truth. She regrets ever going after him. But no. It’s basically the end of “all quiet on the western front”
@gamester512
@gamester512 5 ай бұрын
I interpret it as her realizing that nothing she ever did had any real importance. And thus, her life never had any meaning, as MJ said. And thus, by saying that "Nothing important happened today.", Vanna is acknowledging that her entire life has been worthless, and that she had thoughtlessly squandered the gift of life that Spider-Man had fought so hard for, even when Vanna was a total stranger to him. Essentially, I see it as her finally understanding that not only did her life never amount to anything, but she had wasted whatever potential she may have had to do something truly great by wallowing in her own delusion that Spider-Man was stalking her. And she failed to realize the truth until it was far, far too late. And that realization has left her feeling....empty. I wouldn't have been surprised if the end of this comic was shown in another panel of Vanna's grave, possibly indicating that the realization had stripped her of her will to live to the point that she may have passed away that very night.

I couldn't tell you exactly what issue it was, but I do remember reading a Spider-Man comic when I was younger in which he and Jonah were somehow shackled together at the wrists with a device that would explode if they tried to remove it. Spidey had to drag Jonah all over the city to find and catch up with the guy who'd done it to them and get them both freed, and Jonah was whimpering and doomsaying the entire time. At the end, after Spidey had left Jonah back in his office, Jonah confessed out loud that Spider-man humbled him, because he was the one who didn't give in to despair and instead drove himself to save his own life, and the life of a man who slandered him. I'm pretty sure Jonah never believed his own press. He was a bitter, hateful, spiteful little man who recognized someone else had a more noble spirit, and tried to destroy him for reminding him how small a creature he really was.

Most forms of media I see this story with, it always goes that something happens that puts them in a life or death situation that forces them to change their mind and retract the decision to file the restraining order, but this? This was a chef's kiss. no "happy ending", no "Love and friendship will always win", just a woman and her decision, that lead... no place. she got those few 15 minutes of fame with JJ, but that story probably fell dead in the water by dinner time.

Disaster strikes: Spider-Man: "Is (names those with a RO against him) in the group?" Civilian: "Yes, why?" Spider-Man: "Then I can't help you. Can't be within (mentions distance) of (her/him/them). Bye!" Survivors take RO person/people to court if they don't outright attack her/him/them.

Her interactions with Spider-Man were years apart. She even commented that the first incident was years ago on her second post about Spider-Man. She only came across him in highschool and then in college. After that she eventually got a job and finally went to get the restraining order and went to the Daily Bugle. By the time she had her story in the newspaper she was a grown woman.

There were two, first when she was a teen, and the next when she was a grown adult. Her paranoia made it seem like a lot, but the truth is, with how much Spider-Man’s enemies move when they fight, and the varied thematic interests of his villains, it’s likely a ton of people encountered him once or twice. She just made a big deal about it.

Can a Judge even legally give a restraining order to someone who is not aware of the issue or even the person seeking the order? I mean, Spidy knew nothing about this and she couldn't prove he knew who she was. Would that stick in a courtroom?
