Ok ok ok. The first one gets a bad rap because of the sequels. It *is* a body-horror movie with disturbing concepts and scenes, but it is at least an entertaining movie, and not nearly as gross-out as people think. The sequels are deranged, terrible, and just as disgusting as people assume the franchise is.

Friendly reminder: Sid never knew the toys were alive. He was growing up in an obviously troubled household and was honestly very creative with some of his creations. He was using the toys as a therapeutic outlet for his internalized frustrations. It's better than doing it on, say, small animals or his little sister.

He comes home IMMEDIATELY gives the dog some attention, gave it a toy that he won, and the dog knew to wait to attack the toy as a trick that SID HAD CLEARLY TAUGHT HIM. THAT TAKES HOURS OF QUALITY TIME WITH A PET. Sid is good to that dog and to me that’s the most telling aspect of his character

Little bit of a fun fact about the first movie woody was originally supposed to be a complete ass but they changed his character because he was just a bit too mean and they didn’t want him to be completely irredeemable! Also the movie came out in November of 95! (I was 7 months old then.)
