I've never really been able to get into using Power Bait, even though I know how effective it can be. You're comparison proves that. As for the glitter, our daughter was a competitive dancer for 10 years. 8 of those years, I wore a black uniform and chef coat. All my cooks knew when it was dance season.

One idea might be that in the winter in that cold water the power is going to have a harder consistency than it normally would during the warmer months when it sees much more of its use on the open water with people fishing stocked trout lakes. The harder bait could be stopping the hook from pulling through and penetrating the fish's mouth. Just a thought, however. I do find that with power bait you really have to give the fish some time with the bait to chew and investigate it, setting the hook when they have it firmly in their mouth or even down their throat. (which isn't ideal for c and r, but I tend to keep many of my stocked trout).

Love power bait for ice fishing works really well especially when u pair them with worms on another dead stick get a bite every time

Come home with glitter and she will think you've been looking at greeting cards. I don't usually have the patience for still fishing, but I like Dave Biser's tip in his book "Kokanee" about fluffing up a cotton ball and squishing in dough bait to get it to stay on a single hook, casting or trolling.

I've always used treble hooks for dough because I never loose the fish, when I use to use the single hooks i'd miss them, a\oh man, as I am typing this you mention the treble hooks lol

Might be tying up some similar to those! Been having some luck with shrimp flies under jigs. You ever use they under any spoons or Swedish pimples, or just with a weight?

I really like these videos. It helps us all understand how to fish for rainbows. I've been messing around with flies as well. Been having luck with balanced leeches and a blob fly that is white and orange mixed. Was wondering why you're fishing for rainbows that deep? Are they moving out to deeper water this time of year?

Yes they move out over deeper water late winter

It varies by lake. A big reason they concentrate shallow early season is that shallow weeds beds are still fairly productive under early ice. By late winter the weeds have died back and their food source is less concentrated there. I find them become more pelagic late winter and just wander widely over deeper basins

perch are greedy, they love power bait! I constantly catch perch when I'm power baiting on American Lake near my home.

I would like to see you test Power Bait against Berkley Gulp trout dough rainbow colors. I can't tell which one is better. But I have never tested them side by side.

Love the content, question unrelated to your recent video. I live in WA and just ordered an Oldtown AP 136 and all my research says I don’t have to register it, but it’s very confusing. Any enlightenment would be appreciated! Thank you and can’t wait to catch my first Kokanee soon.

If u plan on using it on federal navigable waters it must be registered. That includes Puget Sound, Columbia River, many large lakes, and most rivers

My experience with power bait is smaller blobs is better and smaller hooks. #12-14 hooks and pea sized amount. So they commit. But that’s just my experience.

Why not tie your power bait on a drop shot rig?? Then you won't have thay delay in with the power bait floating above the weight
