yes, but the oxalates are anti-nutrients, and they will block the absorption of the good minerals

Also she doesn't claim to have cured it, she uses the term "reversed" but that's for PR reasons and to not make claims that the medical community would challenge. She says that she has no markers for it, all her tests have been normal for the past 15 years give or take. And certainly amazing!!!!!

Thank you. I’ve been eating large quantities of spinach and kale everyday for a long time. I think it has caused me to have to pee constantly. Cutting back. I hope it’s not too late to avoid a problem. 🙏🏻.

@Peter Rabbit hi I’m looking at becoming educated as a plant based nutritionist. Do you recommend any programs or certifications? I’m investigating now. I want to be a part of a group and work to educate people as well as be an example of the health benefits. I live in nyc married to a dr at a major university hospital. I can’t believe how ill informed drs are about nutrition. Any advice?

Look at Dr Goldham video re: oxalates. She says it is genetic, or dehydration. I had one once, had been dehydrated in Navajo county. After treatment Drs decided it was a "one-off" event. But, leaning towards more variety in greens is a good idea for many reasons.

Excuse me, Hello. Just out of curiosity do you drink coffee? I'm just asking because I quit for 2 months recently and realized that it is a major bladder irritant and I have to go all day and a few times in the night while drinking it. Anything over 2 cups. Even 2 cups may be to much? It made such a difference that I will probably quit again. Anyway, I to have used raw spinach in smoothies several times a week until recently when I cut out all carbs. I lost 40 lbs through fasting and carnivore in 2-3 months. My blood pressure is better than it's ever been etc . Ofcourse I spinach is a carb also and the protein powder mixtures are usually not very healthy when I research every chemical in them. Anyway, have a good day. Good luck.

While it's just my experience, I've been eating raw spinach religiously (i.e., everyday) as part of my G-BOMBS lunch since 2014. Seven years running now. I've eaten more raw, uncooked spinach than Popeye could ever have imagined. Nary a problem.

After about 15 minutes juices and shakes start to excessively ferment. I would say make it in an amount that you can drink in 15 minutes and then make more as you need.

When you ferment foods like pickles you have to keep the air out, so that the fermented food doesn't spoil. When your fruit or vegetable juice is exposed to air, the fermentation actually causes spoilage.

Slowly over the course of a day?!? Well, I am screwed. I fill my vitamix up to the underside of the lid (about 70 ounces) and drink it over the course of 15 minutes. I supposed if my worst habit is drinking blended whole fruits and veggies too fast I should be ok....or at least better off than 97% of the population.

What happens if you boil spinach for 6 minutes is it ok to eat every day?
@rollin19
@rollin19 3 жыл бұрын
The thing is spinach is high in protein when you cook it,by steaming it you are breaking it down and therefore the acidity is going up. From my experience it should be eaten raw and organic,your stomach does the job of breaking it down.

No it not just that. It's they want you to eat greens everyday because its makes nitric oxide which is very beneficial for your heart and they tell you that because they don't you just filling up your body with fat and sugar. You wanna eat handful of greens a day,you also want a variety of plant foods like some grains,beans,legumes,fruit,veggies,nuts.and seeds.

I have heard that boiling the spinach (and chard) removes much of the oxalic acid. Have I heard wrong?
@rollin19
@rollin19 3 жыл бұрын
Yes i've cooked spinach before and it's high in protein,protein is an acid so when you cook it you are increasing the acidity of it. Best to be eaten raw and organic. It's not just that but processed foods have fat and sugar. Processed oil and sugar are acidic,neither are good for you.
@lf7065

You are correct! Cooking lowers oxalic acid. Remove cooking water. Add a little citrus as extra insurance. Citric acid prevents kidney stone formation.

Dr Goldner says spinach is fine.🤷🏻‍♀️
@flattlandermontgomery1524
@flattlandermontgomery1524 3 жыл бұрын
I looked it up and the reason why it's fine and works so well on her protocol is because of all the hydration. Apparently kidney stones form when there is not enough fluid to dilute the oxalic acid/uric acid or calcium in the kidneys. But it's still good to rotate the greens.

Yes i've noticed when you cook spinach how acidic it is,just when you feel it hits the throat you know it. If you cook it with tomatoes its even worse. It needs to be organic and eaten raw..cooking it will make it acidic. Not just spinach but greens in general have acidity, Organic is best,but you always wanna wash it off,I've noticed theres lots of pesticides on it if you've ever tried to eat non organic by not washing it off. The people who dont eat healthy just dont care peoples health when they are chasing the $ so you need to stick to organic as much as you can,even if it costs a little more,it's worth it. Pesticides should not be used on any plants.period!!

Dr. Esselstyn encourages eating Spinach every day as long as it's cooked. I assume steaming counts as cooking. FWIW, greens very low in oxalate and can be enjoyed raw in a salad, include romanine lettuce, arugula, broccoli, kale, and others. Iceberg lettuce is fine but not nearly as nutritious as romaine

Think about this,you eat salad or any plant food it fill you up with fiber and then you are full and satified. If you grind up plants and mak a smoothies,you a basically taking the food grinding it up and compacting it into a large amount of calories of plant food in like a 10 oz cup and then you drink that within an hour. Do you think thats good for your body? You have to eat it in whole form,your stomach needs fiber. You have teeth for a reason.

You are not getting ir,spinach and greens are full of protein,protein is an amino acid,it's an acid. Spinach is excellent source of protein without a doubt. When you cook green it you are breaking it down and it makes it acidic,if you are eating cooked greens 3 4 5 6 times a day your gonna have heartburn,and acid reflux,and the acid is destroying your body. Spinach should be eat raw,not by itself but in a salad, with lettuce,other greens you have to cook so you can eat them. You wanna eat a handful of a greens a day like a cup or 2 a day but also you can eat veggies,beans,legumes,fruit,nuts and seeds,
