Spinnerbaits In Muddy Water

Spinnerbaits work best in muddy water. However they are great in all water clarities. Spinnerbaits are my strength. I love throwing them all year long!

I know a lot of you guy’s boat ramps are closed right now. My opinion is it’s the right move. We all should be a lil more conscience of how serious this is. It’s not about you being alone in nature. A trip to the lake involves a stop to get fuel (contact point) A stop for food (contact point) and possibly more points of exposition. Even though I hate not being able to easily access my lakes I feel like it’s necessary. Let’s be smart. We always say family first until we are faced with a situation that requires us to really think about putting our families first.

Sadly a few ruined it for all. I heard some folks were seen in large groups at the boat landings this past weekend. Apparently a group decided to hit the local sand bar and party a little as well. My little public lake probably never has more than 3 boats on it even on Sat and Sun. The motor limit so small most use electric motors only. Really nothing else in this small town to do. Maybe trek thru the woods and creek fish! Can't be much more socially distant than that!

Blat I’ve “play” fished off and on my entire life but no one was ever around to teach me the details of bass fishing. A couple of weeks ago I was telling a coworker about watching your videos and how much I liked your way of teaching. Well he proceeds to tell me about meeting you, I believe at a tournament on Lay Lake in Alabama. He said he met several pros that day and mentioned a few who were not so friendly. However, he said you were the same man that we see in these videos about fishing and more importantly with your family. If your half the father in real life that you are on these videos you have some very lucky kids. Your patience is incredible and your kids are so well behaved.and respectful. It may all be for the camera 😀. Thank you for some unbelievable videos. On a side note, I always try to support those I like but you don’t have any shirts on your website for the “bigger” man and your kits are almost all sold out. I’ll hang in there until it’s all restocked. Lastly, I would love to spend a day with someone like yourself to personally coach up my fishing skills. Assuming your too busy for something like that, are you aware of anyone who does that? Again, thanks for al you do and specifically for the PPE fund raiser. I’m a firefighter/paramedic and am always amazed at the support people show during difficult times. Stay safe and stay humble. You are the man.

i sometimes use a Sharpie marker to color the blade black when i want the thump only. Sure wish i could drop my spinnerbaits in that soft! Love it.

Outdoors Geek yap down here on the Tennessee river this year it’s been high water an floods water has been stained an then blades really thump hard , so I had to drag mine back out an love them. Old school an it stil works really well.

second favorite way to throw spinnerbaits is the indiana blades in my opinion. best of both worlds between the willows and colorado blades

Hey b lat. so I live in southern Michigan it’s still kinda cold water is about 40-45 degrees the what is pretty clear. Should it be as slow as it has been? Like I’ve caught 2 bass in the matter of 2 weeks and that’s being out every other day. Just wondering what you would think!!!! I appreciate it and thanks for the advise

I live in S.E. Michigan...for me in clear water, Booyah Tux and Tails spinner bait Black skirt with Hammered Copper Colorado blades. Both day and night! Deadly at night! I've had luck with silver if they are feeling on Shad or Minnows. It does o.k. in muddy water also. But I would try more white and silver. Hope this helps.

I have muddy water after some massive storms lately but it’s still cold. Should I be fishing shallow or deep?

Definitely will start moving up, the sun is still increasing daily for all in the northern hemisphere so they will linger around rock bluffs or rock beds in the shallows because they will trap the heat of the daylight. Like anytime, may have some move to deeper water on those cold front type days or in cloudy days for the neutral water temps, but most will come up to feel those sun rays this time of year. I'm sure he will answer but where I fish it seems to work great to find a sunny bluff that descends into the water for all fish, follow the warmer water for the most active fish.
