I always feel like this type of episode on any other show would be glossed over and it would start with characters hiding; not mattering how they got there. I like that BtVS shows us the in-between step to flesh certain things out.

RIP poor Orlando. As a Knight of Byzantium he devotes his entire life to searching for the Key, and as a result gets brain-sucked by Glory. Then as a patient in the mental ward he FINDS the Key, when Dawn walks in, but since he is restrained can't do anything about it, and since he is crazy he forgets about it. Then he mentions it to Gregor which results in the standoff at the gas station, where he is killed by his own buddies so Glory won't get him.

This episode is one of the rare cases where Buffy straight up kills a guy lol. It is fair to assume after all that the guy that got an axe thrown into his chest and fell off the RV probably died haha Edit: oh yea I forgot they do say 10 of their men are dead lol.

I never understood how the Knights of Byzantium catch up to the Scoobies. While slow moving, the Scoobies are still in an automobile. Not to mention they have a huge head start

I thought the same thing. Was even thinking you could fix this by showing them emerge from a magic gateway when you first see them marching, then one could flicker momentarily ahead of the van. After all, how did they get all those horses into Sunnydale?

Only a new fan raised on _Supernatural_ would bring up this piddling continuity problem. Us OG fans are so busy enjoying the crazy anachronism of a troop of medieval knights attacking a fleeing Winnebago in Southern California that these things don't even occur to us.

The Season is now reaching boiling point. In Spiral, Glory now knows Dawn is The Key. Spike turning up in the RV is funny with the slit in the front window. The scenes with The Knights chasing the RV and the ensuing fight is great. The mistake of getting Ben to come to treat Giles with of course the Scoobies not aware he is also Glory. The General explains to Buffy why it is all happening, and that there is no way to stop Glory unless The Key is destroyed. When Glory takes Dawn we can see Buffy becoming catatonic with stress. The build up to the finale is superb, and it does not disappoint.

Posting my BUFFY REWATCH recap for ‘Spiral’. May contain spoilers. In the previous episode, Glory caught up to the Gang and because she brain-sucked Tara, Tara unintentionally revealed that the Key was Dawn to her. Now they’re on the run from her with the added complication that Tara doesn’t know what she’s doing, and so Willow has to take care of her at the same time of protecting everyone from Glory. She plays a huge part in the run from her. Both her magical powers and computer technology skills are sorely needed. She is very necessary to the predicament they are all in and is very effective at keeping everyone safe. Proving that she’s the only one really capable of doing so, while Buffy is scrambling about trying whatever she can and feeling like she’s failing because she’s ‘The Slayer’, and her duty is to defend them from Big Bads the likes of Glory. So the fact that she has to run away to do that really bothers her. She’s never had to choose flight over fight before. Her Slayer powers are practically useless compared to Willow’s magical powers in this situation. So Willow’s proving that she’s on the same level as Buffy as a warrior, if not above her, at this point in the show. And although Glory is insurmountably physically stronger than the both of them combined, it says a lot that only Willow can seem to keep her at bay. And the fact that she can do it all the while looking after Tara? That’s quite the astonishing feat for a girl who once upon a time was the damsel-in-distress and couldn’t even protect herself from a soulless vampire. Willow has grew into her innate power, for the better or for the worse, and is not someone to be messed with anymore.

Buffy really killed several humans in this episode, unsure if they used a writer that had no clue about the lore, or why it was written like that?, I she axe murder one of the knights

Obviously she will when there's no choice and she needs to save people. It'd be weird if she refused to kill humans moments before they kill her friends.

if the end of _buffy_ was a crime, then sarah michelle gellar was the culprit. but in her defense, her hours on this show were absolutely absurd.

Not just her hours, its no secret she hated filming season 6 and where they took her character. So its really Joss or Mart Noxon's fault.

@@theprodigal if she needed counseling because it was emotionally difficult work, then she should have sought it. if she was concerned about her career, that should have been addressed. but if she thought she had been hired as a co-writer, then she was entirely in the wrong in that regard. season six isn't perfect -- none of the seasons are -- but it was well-made. nobody wants to see buffy written by sarah michelle gellar.

@@sirmoonslosthismind SMG has a right to call out the total degradation of her character that she is obligated to play if she wants. She certainly shouldn't need to have sought counselling after it. Even the writers now admit it was irresponsible with some of the things they did. S6 is well known for being the most critically panned season so its a stretch to say it was well made.
