Actually one of my favorite parts of this bike is the simplicity in the controls and fairing. I really love the cockpit of this motorcycle, I think it’s one of the most attractive looking cockpits out today with the small gauges in the handlebar clamp, the air openings in the fairing, and the single headlight. I am not even into Harley’s, and I find the low rider ST very cool.

Going to disagree somewhat. I don't need an iPad but I can't stand that tiny gauge. It looks like the same one from the Street Bob I test rode and I couldn't hardly see a damn thing on it a lot of times. The least they could have done was add the gauge from the standard LRS, but it would have been much better if they'd added the TFT from the Sportster S.

Harley is to the motorcycle market what the 1911 is to the firearms market. Rich in American history but technologically deficient and dated. It’s all about the bragging rights, looks, and experience while riding (or shooting).

I bought the Low Rider S a few months ago and absolutely love it. My first Harley, and now I know why folks love them. It just hits different, know what I mean. the 117 is buttery smooth and massive power. Wonder how you would compare the S to the ST. I'm not a huge fan of the whole faring thing, and with what's on the S, it LOOKS more like a classic muscle cruiser, but thats just personal opinion and aesthetics. Good to see you back on a Harley. I honestly would never have given them a second glance if it weren't for you.

Honestly I think HD sorely whiffed when they discontinued the Sport Glide. It had the forward controls and the proper telemetry display, but only had the 107. If they would've stuffed that 117 in that bike, it would be the perfect bike for the soft tail sporty touring class. I have the 2021 Sport Glide and I completely love that machine! I have put over 6000 miles on mine in less than a year & a half!!! I ride it any chance I can make an excuse to. It is very confidence inspiring going into corners. My only complaint with it would be the sound, but that is getting fixed with a stage 1 kit this spring. I also upgraded the windscreen (or lack thereof) and added a mustache highway bar (highly recommend). Great review Spite!!!

I love technology, but these small digital displays just don’t cut it. I agree with you, give me two gauges. A quick glance and I see what I need. With the digital dash, I have to look longer to see what I need to see. Things happen fast on two wheels, I don’t need to slow that process down. HD does need to do a better job with tech. Nice bike though.

I turn 62 next month and buying a new bike. I have owned 4 Harleys my last I sold 17 years ago which was a StreetGlide with the 88 engine. I did as stage 4 because I love torque but was never happy with outcome of the build. The thought of a 117 on a bike that is 150 lbs lighter is already making me smile. Plus at my age weight of a bike is important so the lighter the better. I was even considering the New Indian Scout 101 because that bike weighs 572 lbs. But then I saw the Sport Chief with bigger engine so It's now down to the Indian Chief or the Low Rider. I want to giggle when I twist the throttle. Only thing I would change on the Harley are the pipes. I think the fairing is tall enough for someone my height. Thanks again for a great video!!! Safe travels my friend. EDIT....I was wrong, this bike is only 100 lbs less than StreetGlide. Only thing I would miss is having music but just learned that new helmets allow you to Bluetooth music into helmet even though I also love the sound of nice pipes and open road. Do not need music but it was nice to have on longer rides. And you nailed it. I am one of those old farts that want to go fast on the straights and slow on the corners. I am stoked no pun intended.

I think muscle cruiser is a more fitting term for this bike. The V-rod or a Rocket 3 would probably be more appropriate than comparing it to K bikes and such. At that price point the Rocket 3 is serious competition and it's absolutely gorgeous but it all boils down to use case. On a cross country trip I agree there are few nicer things to be on than a good Hog.

I have a T120 as my round-town and twisty road bike. It is a fine machine and a lot of fun to ride - kind of like back to basics. I also have a heavy-weight touring bike and have had a few sport-tourers. While the T120 is a great bike, it isn't a long-range all-day-in-the-saddle ride - just be aware of that.

Spite, I'm 6ft at 300 pds . I ride a 2008 Softail Custom, and I had to put 2 inch over extension forward controls with floor boards to feel comfortable. Baby apes gone it felt wobbly, so to say . Put a 12 inch riser with 12 inch drag bar being one piece without no pullback and a gunfighter Saddleman seat to feel comfortable . Plus, I got a Saddleman Explorer seat it's a gel seat with the memory foam for my wife, so her kitty cat wouldn't get sore . It's very comfortable, but I can't feel the road response . The things we do for our ole ladies . My bike obviously is a 96-inch with Vance&Hines FP3 Bluetooth tuner and pipes . That FP3 tuner is a blast to self tune your bike . It was still running rich, so I called Vance&Hines, and they fine-tuned it from California, and I live in Connecticut . They even said good job filling all the boxes . Every gear just red lined it . When is enough enough for these cruisers . Harley's are built around torque, not horsepower . The bike I bought mileage was 21k just about showroom condition for 7k . Now, my stance on these Harley Davidson can really suck crap . There is no Harley Davidson worth over 20k. Sorry for those who truly just pissed their money away . And for what I even dragged raced, a 107 cube motor couldn't pass him, but he wasn't going nowhere himself pretty much almost neck and neck . So are Harley's great bikes, yes ! But are they great bikes for 20k plus HELL NO ! Sorry, the truth is the truth . And I'm a Harley fan boy to the max . Even the Gold Wing isn't worth it as well . And the G.W. is a much better tourer than any Harley Davidson ever will be .

Love your comments regarding sport bike riders worrying about leaning the bike over when cornering. As someone who has ridden Harley’s for years as well as sport bikes, they need not worry. After having done a number of track days on my HD XR1200, your perception of how far you are leaning over to your actual lean angle is deceiving. Last track day I thought I had the bike really cranked over, close to scrapping my knee; until I saw the pictures. I was only about 1/2 as far as I thought. Keep up the good work

I fully agree about having the indicator switch in one piece on the left. Frees up your throttle hand, in particular on quick turns close together when on / off throttle is important. Also a small curled up lip moulded into fairing will push that wind over your head. I had a small windshield with that set up on a 1981 xs 1100 RH Yamaha with a small bikini fairing all those decades ago and worked excellent. Not bagging this bike , I ride Harleys now. Just saying.

Spite, my friend has this Low Rider ST. I've ridden it and don't like it. Shifting is CLUNKY as all hell! Absolutely HATE the turn signals on both sides. They should have put the Low Rider S instrument cluster in place of that slim little gauge thingy. And you are 100% correct, that bike is not worth an additional $5-7K (let's not BS anyone, no dealership is selling this at MSRP) over the Low Rider S. I actually think the Low Rider S is at a VERY good price and likely would have bought one, if the dealer hadn't been trying to jack the interest rate up to 24%! I just purchased the new ‘23 ST (in white, didn’t like the gray) a few weeks ago. I upgraded from an Iron 883.. and I can’t even put into words how unbelievably happy I am with this thing. Yes, the price was my biggest concern. And even at 5’6”, the controls are not my favorite, but MY GOD. I’ve put almost 800 miles on this thing already, and I can not wait to put thousands more. This is the “middle of the road” cruiser between the Sporty and full-size bagger that I needed in my life. I can’t get enough of it. For me, the simplicity of it was fine as well as the lower-decibel mufflers. I’m really not a fan of having a loud bike. But that’s just my preference. I think you definitely hit on all the main points, but I’d like to add that this super nimble for a larger bike, and it barely feels 700+ pounds. It definitely makes me giggle when I hammer the throttle. I do not regret this purchase, at all. Great video!

If you're my size... 6' 5".... forward pegs, saddlemen seat, taller wind screen, mustache bars, and probably some set back on the handlebars, after adding the Saddlemen. I think Spite is being quite honest with the price point. Especially when you add in all of Harley Davidson's dealership padding of the price. In the Southwest, I'm thinking it's going to be closer to $26 or 27k out the door, with no HD financing. You can pick up used Sport Glides, if you can live with the M8 107, for a hell of a lot less. Make the effort to buy one private party.

I love all the lowrider S but if I do end up getting one forward controls are gonna be a day one necessity, I was considering the ST and was planning on getting the audio kit, the dash from the S for the analog tach and a ram mount android auto head unit but that's gonna be so expensive I thought at that point I might as well have sprung for the road glide ST and called it a day

I have this bike…. I love it … was a hard choice between it and a road glide….. but I came from a street Bob.. and my first ride on this bike…. Was night and day suspension difference.. st was so smooth… then I got on road glide.. it wasn’t really any smoother.. I mean not much.. just heavier and negligibly more planted on RG but very little…. But low speed maneuvering was much better on st… One ride doesn’t really give enough time to truly compare…. But the st just felt better

Thanks for continuing to put out honest, real world content. I'm sure the temptation is real to give anyone a glowing review who's willing to lend out their brand new bike for a couple weeks, but we the people really seek and appreciate truth tellers! Overall sweet bike though, way out of my price range, but it would be one I'd look at pretty hard if I was looking at Harleys.

I really like this bike, especially the fairing. The only things I don't like are the instrument cluster and how high the footpegs are. I have long legs and I am sure I would feel quite cramped. I would probably call it day and get an Indian Chief Sport but I need to take the Low Rider ST for a test ride to know for sure.

There are actually two types of Sports Tourers, you have the easy one; the Touring Sport bike. My Triumph Sprint 1050 is a good example. It's damn fast, handles well but has a comfortable enough riding position and wind protection for longer journeys. The Tracer you mention I would say is the same kind of ST, Yamaha's FJR1300, Honda VFR 1200 etc etc with the ultimate of this type being the H2 SX. You've then got the other type which I think the Low Rider ST probably fits into really well; the Sporty Tourer. In the UK it was bikes like the Honda CBF1000 and Suzuki Bandit 1250, as well as Triumph's old Tiger Sport 1050 that fit that definition quite well; big, comfy lumps of practicality with a bit more suspension to make it fun enough in the twisties and able to do the proper touring work. I think Sporty cruisers like the Low Rider ST fit much better into the "Sporty Tourer" type of ST, at which point it probably does pretty well against other new options. I do actually really like dash on the Low Rider ST, it's simple in a way you just don't get any more. I can see why the colour might not be the best, but as a simple, no-nonsense dash, it's a well thought-out design, obviously intended to be as slim as possible, even invisible, but I can appreciate it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Dang, I am really not the target demographic for Harley. I don't see, why I should get this over a Rebel CMX1100T, which costs half. ^^' PS: Even at the same price, I would take the Rebel.

I bought a 2022 BMW R18 Transcontinental First Edition for around $28k, fully dressed out. What convinced me to buy was BMW had a 0.9% APR deal going. That means over the life of the loan, I'm paying less than $1k interest, which, with inflation as it is right now, makes this Beemer a steal! Maybe Harley Davidson should consider a similar campaign? I've already got my bike, but I'm sure others would love to take advantage this sort of deal, if HD reads these comments.

Best video ever, I can really relate to you and this video. You look like average guy( not trying to be anyone but you). I'm also considering putting in an order for this bike so video was awesome, not only that but during the recession I moved to TX do some work. I built the state park you were parked in front of in beginning of video. I couldn't tell what direction you were going but the highway that goes from wimberley to Bee cave I hit a deer at 60 MPH on a 1984 Honda XL 600 dual sport at 6:00 in the morning heading south to wimberley from lake Travis. I didn't come off the bike but my clutch cable was ripped off the casing, I limped the bike to work where nobody believed me because they said most of their friends that hit deers don't make it. They didn't believe me until they saw all the deer hair on my shocks 😲. Thanks again!!!!

I have a 2021 Streetbob 114 stage 1 tune, tilted bars back a bit, saddleman seat, tall sissybar and engine bars for forward leg space, memphis shades gauntlet, V&H mini Grenades in Crome, no panniers but its my perfect cruiser now spent £14k new then £2k more so sits at £16k now and at 300kg being lighter its awesome. but i do like the Low rider st and i did test the 117 low rider, just found the foot controls too high, didn't feel much different to mine in power though. my honest review.

I’m a full blown Harley hater. I think it’s cool they made the pan America. But it’s far too big of a big for any real interest. I got stuck riding one of these last weekend, and was absolutely blown away. It didn’t feel massive, the controls were easy, and it was VERY comfortable.

Coming from the Super Sport side, the first I noticed was the handling on the low rider. I mean It handles good for 20 degrees of lean after that it seems like it's a fight to keep it at a deeper lean angle. VS My Honda CBR 1000RR, which dives into turns and is effortless to keep it at a deep lean angle. Allot has to do with the weight distribution, tires, precision engineered balance and of course Horse Power. My CBR is I believe is 496 LBS wet with stock 135 HP that is a huge power to weight ratio, equivalent to a 1300 HP car approx. Having said that, I did not buy my Harley expecting it to perform as my super sport in no way how shape or form, I bought my Harley for comfort, style and a lifestyle change. I'm 55 I don't care about riding with my jacket on fire anymore, however I did keep my CBR just in case I got an urge to rip up the road again.

What makes it unique is biggest stock motor, inverted forks, dual discs, hard bags, fairing, stock t-bars with mid controls not a floor board. Every other Harley your taking some features and losing others or vise versa. Only thing it needs is a radio.

Despite the price, I think they move alot of units, it’s just enough sport just enough touring without being too much of either. I’m not certain future HD buyers are all looking too much into road or street glides too much, imho
