Who is Splattercat?
I'm a Let's Player gamer from Northern California who enjoys video games of all varieties. While I do game on the Xbox360 and Wii occasionally, most of the content that is featured on this channel will be new PC game releases and Indie PC Games.I publish videos daily so be sure to check in and see what's been going with me here at the Nerd Castle. My upload schedule typically includes one main series which is uploaded daily, followed by two minor series' which are alternated days. I enjoy Strategy games, RPGs of all varieties, and Sandbox games, so many times my content will reflect this in my game selections. What is Legend of Grimrock?
Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart but a modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exiling them to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to their captors, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations long perished now. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level.
The game brings back the oldschool challenge with highly tactical real-time combat and grid-based movement, devious hidden switches and secrets as well as deadly traps and horrible monsters. Legend of Grimrock puts an emphasis on puzzles and exploration and the wits and perception of the player are more important tools than even the sharpest of swords could be. And if you are a hardened dungeon crawling veteran and you crave an extra challenge, you can arm yourself with a stack of grid paper and turn on the Oldschool Mode which disables the luxury of the automap! Are you ready to venture forth and unravel the mysteries of Mount Grimrock?

I saw the little button that opened the arrow-cell the firt time you walked into that alcove and I hoped so badly that you would come back and see it too - and you did! I was very happy about that :)

The one cell you couldn't find a way into (about 8:00) can be entered from the back once you find the passageway. Also, every trapdoor can be entered. There are many times hidden items and secrets down them. Risk/reward - is it worth the potential fall damage to get what is hidden down there?

24.06 That teleporter is evil. It's one of those "too fast" things. It can take ages to get past even when you know how to do it because the timing is just so tight.

8:54 it's not a question of figuring out... it's paying attention to things that stare you in the the face.. like that button the closest thing to figuring is noticing the one torch holder is oddly empty... and that the runes on that wall boldly point to it...

The alcove in the snail prison is the bottom of a pit trap from the level above. It's actually the one you dropped a snail down. Normally there's only one in this room.

There is a back way to those arrows, the back wall is a hidden door, you even looked at the loose rock that opens the door

Hopefully any such sequel will allow for less twitch gaming on the tile based floor puzzles with time limits. Many of them are just too fast.

Are you making the run with the map function enabled? Or is it disabled? Because you can make guesses about hidden rooms based on the map as it fills out. I know that this is counter to your impatient gameplay style (I'm not insulting you, this is your own words here :-D) but when I figured out that sometimes those gaps-in-the-map meant that there was a room to find, it opened up the game a little bit! (So to speak) I've already learned some stuff from your playthrough, though. I was failing so hard in this game. Seems to be because I was trying to be balanced with my skill points.

The reason I play rapidly in LP's is because I figure nobody wants to see me walk sideways along the walls doomstyle looking for secrets hahaha. Plus I'd have to do tons of editing etc.

Eh, that's a 'damned if you do' situation, because parts of the population don't want to see your doomstyle, but other parts of your population will just get SOOOOOO irritated if you don't doomstyle! Can that be a thing now? "Doomstyle" - a type of hardstyle dance involving hardcore grinding along walls ... XD

What happens if you put in the runes for a spell you don't actually have the scroll for yet? I also wish I knew Futhark so I could actually read those runes. (I'm assuming their Norse runes, although the ones on the walls seem to be of the alphabetical version, and to be just randomly slapped on.)

You really, really need to look more closely at the walls :) You have missed a few buttons. Otherwise I am enjoying this play through, reminds me of the Atari ST Dungeon Master :D

It's a first-person dungeon crawler based on older games like Strahd's Possession, Eye of the Beholder, and early Might and Magic games. In Legend of Grimrock your quartet of characters are prisoners thrown into the top of a dungeon and you have to make it to the bottom level to escape alive. This game is a mix of combat, exploration, and puzzle solving.

Clearly, this is a game not for everyone, I found it very boring cos I want to see the characters I'm playing not just four windows with their icons.
