Split Reins, the Reason is Safety for You and Your Animal

Everyone has their own preferences and ways to do things. When it comes to reins in the mountains I feel there is only one clear and obvious choice. I ride with split reins for safety reasons. I want my reins to be able to come apart if and when I have a "come-a-part". Reins can get caught on a foot, a tree, your pack animals, or when you just don't want to happen. If they are solid reins you're asking for a bigger wreck than you're having. I put mine together with a hair band. Take a watch and see.

Would love a review of a few different ways to pack your rifle. I'm heading out this weekend on a pack trip and am interested in a good way that doesn't require me buying the Trail Max hard scabbard.

The so called "Roper reins" are dangerous! I've seen cut mouth's and Toungs from horses that have tripped....some, very bad cuts! I like long split reins. Mine have poppers on the ends, and cross them across your lap. The poppers are heavy enough you don't drop one very often.
