As a bio kid who grew up with foster siblings I would have felt weird going out with my bio family without the foster siblings, they were part of the family too! I had the same 3 foster siblings since I was 1-8 so I was very close with them and still call them my brothers/sisters even though I haven’t lived with them for a long time and haven’t seen them for a few years.

I literally ran across an article on Facebook like 30mins ago and it said something about how bad the system is and how it can mess up a child. And then I come to KZbin to educate myself a bit and run across this wonderful family.

My last foster family had 2 bio girls and anywhere between 1 to 4 foster girls. Their bio girls were really young so they needed to spend a lot more one on one time with them. They were often driving us (foster girls) to appointments and those drives, for me anyway, were really great ways to connect and have one on one time with them. We did a lot of things together and I don't think they ever had any "bio family only" activities we were intentionally excluded from. They decided to stop fostering when their bio girls were getting to be teens because they wanted to just focus on their own family. I think they were burned out. 😔 You're doing a great job. 💚 Keep up the good work and veggies are veggies no matter how they come.

Glad to see you picked up scent free detergent. I use dish soap, and dishwasher detergent from that line. It works great and I don't have any scent reactions from it. 😃

Just a tip on laundry detergent... if you have a Sam’s club, they have giant bottles of EOS detergent (all natural with good stuff in it). It’s about $5-10 less than tide and has almost DOUBLE the loads! I don’t use fabric softener or dryer sheets and it does a great job! My favorite natural product!!!

My parents were foster parents when I was a kid and they did everything with all 7 of us. I mean sometimes we would get alone time with one or both mom and dad. I was the baby of the family. I still have contact with my foster sisters although one passed away 2 years ago

The blue pack of training pants are design for boys. They are more padded in the front area and the pink pack is for girls it’s more padded in the back. They should be the same price. I’d recommend grabbing the girl ones for her next time.

Pull ups are genderized because they're made different. The boys are thicker towards the front and the girls are thicker in the middle. I wondered the same thing before I found out! Lol I guess the difference between pull ups and diapers are more pee as they get older. They're made to be able to hold more. Obviously. Lol

I will never understand that refrigerated milk is the norm in the US, where distances are huge and some people live 1h away from the nearest shop. In Spain, milk is stored in tetra-brik packages and you don't need to refrigerate them until you open them. Then, you have 2-3 days to consume them. The size is smaller (1L) so it's rare that your milk expires. They have even smaller sizes (also larger, 2L).
@lissaw4
@lissaw4 4 жыл бұрын
Those are available in the US as well. I love shelf stable things like that. For some reason many people seem weary of it or that it tastes different. I've noticed it's mostly something family or parents told them when they were little. Likely because of powdered milk (you'd add water to it), along with the great depression here. People had to water their milk down even more just to try and survive off that and a piece of bread often times. Even being extremely poor and not having food to eat as a child I'd water down milk to have something. So it's now become this perceived idea that it's inferior to refrigerated milk. However, it's weird to me that the US still hasn't switched from plastic and paper jugs for milk. So many countries put it in bags to cut waste, costs and space.
@lissaw4
@lissaw4 4 жыл бұрын
@@MsTinkerbelle87 shelf stable milk is usually a dollar less than refrigerated milk. Aside from being shelf stable, the price is another reason we give to people/families in need. They are also usually on sale far more often due to people being weary of it.

Hi, love your channel!! I've been watching since Miss A joined your beautiful family :) I really want to foster when I get older, but I am scared because I know the connection you can make between kiddos can be very strong and the thought of them leaving is very sad. How do you cope with foster kiddos you've made a deep connection with leaving? And is there always a thought at the back of your head that they may leave soon:( ?
@BeTheVillageCommunity
@BeTheVillageCommunity 4 жыл бұрын
We will talk about this in an upcoming video but don’t let that stop you. These kids need you to be attached. I know I’m strong enough to absorb that hurt and pain when they leave. The alternative is them being with you and not experiencing that love and attachment. It’s a beautiful trade off.

"not organic". Just as a PSA for anyone who doesn't know: there is NO nutritional difference in organically grown foods. It's mostly a marketing scheme, organically grown foods have just as much residues and pesticides as conventionally grown produce, but takes more resources and is more taxing on the environment. It's important to look at facts that extend past marketing campaigns. Natural pesticides/organic are not safer than conventional pesticides. I always tell people "cyanide may be natural, but it will still kill you!"

yes. ive looked into a lot of those food labels bc im passionate about making ethical purchases. organic, cage free, hormone free, grass fed, antibiotic free, and several others are extremely misleading or just completely unregulated. all vegetables are sprayed with poison unless you grow them yourself

I’ve heard your bio kids wouldn’t have any rights? Is that true? I know there’s an element of sacrifice with everybody involved in a situation that is not typical, but bio children also not always order children much like yours are younger. Have you ever had to deal with any situation with conflicts with that? And how did you manage it? I have work in the children’s home before but I have not yet done foster care and want to at some point

Is it really a good idea to ever be alone with a foster? Doesn’t that open you up to accusations to the case worker against you from the foster? & if no one else is there to back you & vouch for you isn’t that dangerous?
@lisablackburn4872
@lisablackburn4872 4 жыл бұрын
Wow! Can you ever be alone with your biological child? They too can accuse you of wrong doing, eg: neglect, violence, sexual inappropriateness, because they may have a bad attitude and do not follow the house rules etc. Sounds like you have doubts so I would suggest foster parenting is not for you.

I appreciate your bravery in asking this question and I will say that for us, our mission is to show the world that kids in foster care are still kids. Yes, they come from trauma and may exhibit certain behaviors. As a foster parent you open your home and heart to them. You are prepared and trained to respond to your kid depending on their trauma and situation. We do not live in fear of accusations though I know some do. Could it happen? Yes. Is that our concern? No. Our main concern is to provide a safe and loving home. We are inspiring others to do the same ❤️

It's great she saves her allowance and that's awesome of you all! But I've never understood those big clunky shoes on pretty girls! 🤷 And why they're so expensive?! It's ridiculous how much those shoes cost. When you can get like 3 pairs of vans or converse for the price of 1 pair of Jordans. 🤦
