Sorry about your van expenses Robbie.If you rented a room in the Nelson Bay area,you would not need to spend on all the fuel and wear and tear on your van,driving back and forth from Newcastle.You could still enjoy living in your van,but you could save more money for your future plans.An independent mechanical workshop can save you big$$$$ and still carry out the log book services correctly.Good luck!🤗

For the long term, prepare to get a small condo first before traveling. Save for the down payment and get a loan while you are still young (loans may take 20 years so you need to be young to qualify), instead of paying rent, pay for a mortgage. Get a cheaper vehicle and modify your lifestyle to achieve your goals. If you don't do it early, the years will pass and you will never have a place to stay.

Hey Robbie, make sure you sell your van around 200,000km. Transporters (I have one) will cost you around 4k inc labour for clutch and 2k for alternator. For my van both these parts failed between 290k and 360k and it has not happened to me yet but if your turbo breaks down that is another 3k. That is on top of other expenses that will come up including brakes (rotors and pads ) and your normal servicing. Mine is a T5 like yours with over 400k so i know what i am talking about. Good luck i enjoy your vlogs.

Isn’t it an automatic? No need to worry about clutch. A good mate of mine is a mechanic, he’s told me several times never buy a VW. They are just a money pit,and by far the worst car to work on.

You can check your own coolant level and oil level. Get someone to show you how. It's nothing, honestly. You only have to buy a bit of oil and a bit of coolant and don't have topay anyone else to do that. Also, you can pay your rego for six months, then the next time pay for 12 months and it comes at a different time of the year. The timing belt is extremely important to change on time. Generally at 100,000ks is the first one. Check in your car's log books to see when you should do it. If it's too early, they might be ripping you off. If you don't change it and it breaks, you will ruin your motor, and that is hugely expensive. It's time for you to learn about how your car runs. It isn't too difficult. Look for car maintenance videos on You Tube to begin.

yea sorry forgot it was auto. I was just trying to point out how expensive VW parts are.

VW Service should have checked it when you told them your coolant was on minimum level not just when Warning Light comes on you got oil two weeks then coolant warning... Driving with low coolant 3-4 months without filling caused problem... Might be able to claim some compensation from VW service if they didn't check or replace coolant when you first consulted them on issue of low coolant...
@gerardcrabb4556Ай бұрын
Services usually lot less unless replacing parts in service... Might be timing belt or drive belt on engine... The lack of water might have blown gasket they should have topped up water/coolant when you asked no rely on warning light... Regular check between service... Need to learn basic maintenance when using vehicle...
@MrPangskyАй бұрын
that's too much if they just going to change oil and filter. Is your car still under warranty? if not you might as well get the service done outside VW maybe a local mechanic. VW Centre going to charge you a lot every time even for a normal service
@gerardcrabb4556Ай бұрын
Sounds like cracked head gasket from loss coolant and replacement parts and belt drive...

Start making a separate fund for your car repairs. You did say that you save money from living in your van so save up that money. Maybe go to another mechanic and not have it serviced at VW. Ask your friends where they take their cars. Maybe they can make a recommendation.
