My idea for bliss: have her be a new kid in class, but be a prototype from a villain to spy on the power puff girls and invent new weapons to take over the city. Bliss becomes attached to the power puff girls and refuses to do anything to stop them. The villain could get mad and try to reset her into a perfect weapon but the power puff girls save bliss. As a thanks, bliss invents technology for them to help them in battle. For her design I would make her have Afro puffs that are black for a more natural look. She can still be tall but not have super long legs that look weird. Her clothes would have to make her blend into the crown so you don’t suspect anything

Mary Sue is a term thrown around a lot nowadays, especially if a character being referred as one isnt very liked. That being said, Bliss checks out on so many markers for a Mary Sue like omg its like the creators were deliberately trolling the audience. An OC with no basis in original canon being specifically created as a super special awesome character that is either related to the main character(s) or otherwise connected to them? Check. Has a ridiculous overly long (“exotic”) sounding name to signify how special or different the characters is? Check. (As a side note I really wish she was named Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way, would have been less ridiculous that way) The character design is way over-designed to signify the super special awesomeness of said character? Check. Is super special powerful, more than the main characters combined? Check. Instantly liked by the main characters with no actual effort put in by the character? Check. Being too powerful is the only character flaw that serves as the main source of the characters angst? Check. Has an angsty backstory? Check. And so on so on so on. Now, by themselves, those checks do not necessarily make a character a Mary Sue. But all of them combined? Holy shit thats a textbook Mary Sue if there ever was one. *TLDR* Bliss is a textbook Mary Sue who should have never been created and given the axe during the concept stage.

If they really wanted a black character in Powerpuff Girls I know a good way to do it. They meet a new kid in class who is black and has superpowers. The new friend helps them fight crime from time to time and mostly deals with her own villains. It doesn't throw up on the girl's back story and it fits organically.

Lemme rewrite bliss backstory rq: The professor noticed that the powerpuff girls were coming home exhausted and even slipping in school. It turns out that the crime in the city had gotten out of control, and the powerpuff girls were struggling to fight them off. There were simply too many villains and not enough powerpuff girls. So why not just make another powerpuff girl? The professor sets to work recreating the recipe, and then Bliss was born!! The powerpuff girls had mixed reactions about their new sister at first, but they soon warm up to her. (Also Bliss hair was originally black, but Buttercup felt she was stealing her style, so in an attempt to make her new sister happy, she dyed her hair blue and stuck with it ever since.)

One flaw with how bliss is structured is the body. She looks like they just stretched her out and thought giving her noticable hips would make her look older. In the og series we had teen powerpuff girls in the episode city of clipsville. But their the girls bodies were drawn like how other female characters in the show were. Their hair was longer, eyelashes extended a bit, had lipstick and individual new sets of clothes to wear. This helped them actually look aged rather than stretched. Originally the episode was meant to make fun of fan fiction, at the time, aging the girls up into out of character teens being shipped with the rowdyruff boys who also got redesigns. But instead of fans disliking the episode they loved it. Most likely because of the girls and boys appealing new designs and shipping fuel.

I absolutely agree! I never liked Bliss to begin with because I felt like everyone forgot about Bunny from the original show. She was sorta like their disabled/handicapped sister (I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way I promise!) and that’s what I liked about her. I have a cousin who is disabled and I thought it was kinda nice to see a character that was similar to her when I was a kid. It felt more real to me personally and maybe to other kids too. I knew how difficult it was to deal with a family member who was disabled and couldn’t understand or do things like me sometimes. Bunny didn’t understand or do things or even look like her sisters because she was different and she couldn’t help that. Characters like that didn’t get a lot of rep in kids show, especially back then. I think they should’ve used the original Bunny (or something similar to her character like maybe she’s autistic or on the autistic spectrum?) or even made a black version of Bunny (not like Bliss though, just a black curly haired ppg). I would’ve liked that so much more and I think that would’ve had a better representation.

Her back story: She was originally friends with the Powerpuff girls, she idolized them a lot, and loved them very much. One day she is over at the house and accidentally gets into the Professor's lab, she gets into some chemical X, so since she wasn't 'born' with it like the Powerpuff girls, explaining the instability in her powers. Her design: I feel like giving her a 'normal' little girl look would be best. The brown skin and darker hair, maybe attempt at a curly pattern for her natural hair. After the accident with chemical x, she could get an odd color of hair, a Anna from Frozen situation sorta.

@@shutit333 About her voice, I think the KZbinr Wengie voice acted her at the time (Correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't bother to watch the actual Bliss episodes), I saw lots of youtube advertisements related to Wengie being the voice actress and stuff, I don't know if this was changed at the time. For some reason, I just got really annoyed that she was given the purple dress. The girls eventually send her away because of this but Bunny comes back to save them, only to die because she wasn't stable.

Slime Rancher in general is very brightly colored I remember PPG always being a more toned down and muted show bc it meant to showcase how the girls fight crime all the time and how it was supposed to be more of an action show than a girl's show. The design element of the PPG is while they are super heroes that look....odd, they still have realistic skin and hair tones (not counting eyes, because Blossom has PINK/red eyes) and this was something that even bunny had with her light brown hair. Bliss would look good with simple DARK brown hair and mid-length curly/puffy hair or even braids given the styles worn by the other girls. It's why Bliss doesn't work design wise; everything about her is unnatural while the girls were a mixture of both. The colors clash BADLY and the fact that she's wearing Bunny's purple is just a slap in the face. Aqua would have been a better dress choice plus give her a color of her own rather than one that was used before. When you think about it, designing a PPG isn't that overly difficult but holy cow did they just not get the point.

About the "think of the children" thing: *laughs in The Dragon Prince* It's a family show but it makes a point of hammering in the stakes of things. It sugarcoats nothing. And it's still a great show for kids and adults alike. In fact, there's a scene that's a meta-commentary on this, where a character has to tell a kid about someone's death. The character tries to censor it by saying "fell" instead of "died". The kid they're talking to just... snaps, and goes off, because they do not appreciate being talked down to like they can't understand real-life consequences. "He didn't fall. He didn't trip and land on the ground, HE GOT KILLED"

Her design isn't bad. But it could be better- The only thing I had a problem with is her backstory. It's literally just "Oh if I show any emotions, everything around me will explode". I do like Wengie voicing her though.

They could’ve just remade bunny, but instead of almost completely fucking up the recipe like they did in the original, they add spice, everything nice, and *BROWN SUGAR* then chemical W. Boom you have brown bliss and she’s unstable.
