Best looking T'Pring in any series! I kinda miss the slower more deliberate greeting with the finger touch, which was painstaking, but had some reserved sensuality to it. But I get the more direct kiss is probably more suited to today's audiences, than my old fashioned canon observance.

The difference in greetings could be explained by the difference in their relationship status at the times of their meetings. I'm reminded of the tradition that the groom should not see the bride on the day of the wedding before the ceremony. The more subdued greeting could be part of the ritual of their engagement. That would not violate canon, it's just an aspect we haven't seen before. At least that's my headcanon.

People often say that certain roles can never be recast. However. the hav emanaged to recast many of the oringal series characters perfectly. I thought the kelvin crew was spot on casting and somehow they did it once more. Recasting doesn't have to be a bad thing, it gives the characters a chance to live on! Live long and prosper!

I like this. I like every part of it. I like how Spock is terrified of T'Pring, and how, with just one look, T'Pring justifies his terror of her. I like how Spock and T'Pring are trying to make this work, throwing everything of themselves, uncompromisingly, into their relationship. If this betrothal fails, it's not going to be from the lack of effort from either party: both T'Pring and Spock are fully dedicated to their relationship. I like how T'Pring can cut Spock, the best officer in Starfleet, down to his knees, and, yet, how, instead, she lets him know she can do this, but choses to give him just one more chance to prove himself worthy of her, and all she needs of him is to show up to supper, and, how she knows that he won't, and: how she still gives him the benefit of trying. Spock may be 'all that' to Starfleet, and her officers, but T'Pring, in this series, matches, then excels him, measure for measure, then: shows him, by example, how he could be a better person to honor her, and she honors him, and how, she's so far above him, that she doesn't rub his face it in, and she doesn't say: "I told you so." In another Universe, Spock, half-human, half-Vulcan, and T'Pring, fully Vulcan, would have rightly ascended to the honor and dignity of Spock's (and T'Pring's?) parents: the 'it'-couple of Vulcan. Together, they could have easily rewritten the Federation.

Amazing scene. Now that I've watched it many times, I've come to understand that the primal umconditional human love and acceptance that he feels from his human shipmates and his captain is the real reason why spock is so invested in his work, and why he prioritizes his enterprise duties over t'pring. It's entirely subconscious though for spock, and he's likely unaware of his own motivations You see it in episode 10, when pike tells him, you mean a lot to me spock. And spock immediately replies, "and you to me." His heart is with his colleagues on the enterprise, not t'pring

I know people complain about the Spock's Wife storyline, but he actually DID have a betrothal with her, that's canon. However, they never actually got married. In one of the early TOS episodes, Spock was called back to Vulcan to get married to her, but she was in love with some other guy by that time and she made Kirk (as her champion or something like that) and Spock fight to the death for her. He ditched the bitch for good because of it.

I was stressing out and it wasn't even my significant-other coming to see my apartment. Totally seeing how this chic ends up picking Stonn (I think I got his name right? I'm terrible with names), a more typical Vulcan whom she works with. Spock's better off T'Pring-less.

Spock would be less burdened if he stayed a bachelor. I thought Spock died an old, high-ranking bachelor? Even Captain Kirk stayed single and just had playboy flings with casual lovers across the galaxy.

She is not monkeybranching. She's just a full vulcan from the upper class, and the underlying tension between her and spock is the bigoted views that she and her social circle have about humans. She's concerned that spock might embarrass her if he publicly demonstrates any human qualities. Spock doesn't feel unconditional love and acceptance from her, and that's why he invests himself at his workplace with his human colleagues, who warmly accept him for who he is. That's why he's always working instead of spending time with her. So they split up, because he's not prioritizing their relationship. It just wasn't meant to be. No one is to blame You shouldn't let that Redpill stuff become the foundation of how you see the world, or else you'll become a one-dimensional person, with a cynical antiSocial neckbeard incel mindset. Hostility towards women is rooted in insecurity, and you should avoid projecting that energy publicly. You just have to calmly accept women for who they are, the good and the bad. And learn how to play the game. They're not out to get you. They're not the enemy. They're just a force of nature that has to be tamed

It's honestly kind of amazing how they took what was literally a one episode character from the original series whose only defining moment was "The girl who made Spock and Kirk fight to the death because she had the hots for another guy" and actually made her a fleshed out character. In fact not going to lie, I was actually kind of rooting for her and Spock over Spock and Nurse Chapel. And I legitimately tended to feel more frustrated at Spock over T'pring whenver their relationship faltered and was like "Boy, you need to get your head screwed on straight because this lady is not going to wait for you forever!"
