I don't really think it was necessary to write in Osha's "anger" or "hatred" into the show. As someone who has to mask a majority of myself, I know firsthand what's it like to have to act like everything is okay, all the time. Which is the position that Osha has ALWAYS been in, from the first episode. She didn't want to be a witch and was never pious enough to be a Jedi. It's a kind of a Goldilocks situation. The Stranger was just the right person to draw out Osha's true potential.

Why is Maude nitpicking every little thing? Like I don't get her complaint about the helmet scene in the beginning. There were never any rules saying that the person using the helmet can't use the force on other people. In fact, Qimir does exactly that. It just prevents other force users from entering your head, not from you entering someone else's head. Or complaining about Yoda at the end? He's alive during that period, one of the masters, is a fan favorite, and is a good character to tease for the next season as he can provide guidance for Venestra. I'm sorry I just hate the automatic kneejerk negativity.

Literally because this show was supposed to be about the sith lol. Your forgetting that bud? Like the writers did
@lukeaustin10193 ай бұрын
I feel like everyone is forgetting the point that to the rule of two is secrecy. For Qimir to just announce himself as sith goes against everything he apparently seeks. He said "You would call me a sith....." because a jedi would. I don't think he is an apprentice. He is a fallen Jedi who continued training in secret. If that is Plageus then he would still be Tenebris's apprentice scoping for Cortosis and finds Qimir.
@bajansamurai3 ай бұрын
Some of that is likely, but we also have to make sure we're thinking about what the Sith promote and what they actually practice (specifically in terms of what's currently canon). In all shows of actual Sith operations, there have been more than 2 on their side, even if only 2 had the title of Master and Apprentice. Yes, it is about secrecy, but there is often the trend that the Apprentice wants the power so ends up seeking out their own student so they can be a master, then overthrow their master; and the Master is often wary of the apprentice's ambition (or weakness) and seeks a better apprentice.
@TheDreamingDays3 ай бұрын
I don't like The Acolyte much, BUT - 'It would have been better if Osha bled Sol's saber' - she did. - The Plagueis cameo is clearly set up for future seasons (if we get one). Putting glimmers of future story lines in a finale has been a standard for shows since TV has existed. I don't get the issue, other than 'I want everything explained to me now, instant gratification style'. The casual audience doesn't need to know his identity, they can have fun speculating over it. - During the Osha-Qimir vision, his eyes were black the way that receding hairline jedi's was when Mother Anaseya was projecting into his head, so it's reasonable to presume Osha is projecting to him. It is established that Cortosis blocks the outside from coming in, but not vice versa. Nothing suggests that force powers cannot be used from within, so there is no inconsistency. -'Osha was contained with her emotions the whole time' - no she wasn't. She expressed clear rage and cried multiple times throughout the episode. Not sure what you wanted from her here?

AND it messes up canon for episode 1 and doesn't connect but since they told it all in season 1 with no room to get to episode 1....blah blah blah..." I had a lot of issues with the show but mainly just the writing. Also, At the beginning Osha told Qimir that she could see Mae with her hand outstretched to kill Sol, and we took it at face value because the next thing we see is Mae reaching to taze Sol with Pip, but upon a second watch, i think she was actually seeing her future self when she kills Sol, because her and Mae are technically the same person and her force choking him makes more sense as the "hand outstretched to kill him" vision she saw because despite looking identical, she had no reason to believe it was herself.
@debso3 ай бұрын
You guys are assuming a lot and running with it as facts. Osha is the acolyte, clearly. Qimir is likely venamis, a sith apprentice. An apprentice would seak an acolyte to overthrow the sith master. Plagueis is likely also a sith apprentice in this timeline under darth tenebrous. Why should they reveal everything within season 1 if they're pushing for a season 2..?
@Nightlightknight3 ай бұрын
Short of Plagueis's gratuitous Dementor-like brief appearance, one has to wonder what he's been up to all this time. If the hitherto unnamed planet is indeed Baldemnic it would make some sense for him to have remained an undetectable presence there while a source of cortosis was identified and procured for his master Tenebrous.
@Deliverance2533 ай бұрын

@Nightlightknight except for the fact that the cameo was actually Darth Tenebrous and not Darth Plagueis. This is clearly evident because they took the opportunity to mask most of his lower face so as to be ambiguous on the identity. Closer inspection would also reveal that his head is not long enough to be Darth Plagueis. Qimir was never a Sith. He and Osha go on to form the Knights of Ren.

I think Maude is overly negative - seems like she’s looking for reasons not to like it as much. Causes inaccuracies. For example she stated she wanted more emotion when Osha turned like Anakin. But there was none at his turn. No yelling and screaming when he turned and killed Windu, or the younglings or when he first arrived on Mustafar. It was actually very similar until he faced Obiwan.

Doesn’t anyone remember Mae asking The Stranger about his master, and he says, “he likes to collect people!” THAT IS PLAGUEIS!!!
@bajansamurai3 ай бұрын
What you may be forgetting there is that at the time, Mae did not know Qimir was Darth Smiley/the Stranger. She never saw him without his helmet and thought Qimir was just another pawn used for intel and goods. Plaqueis is completely unknown to Mae; Qimir trains with him secretly by that cave then meets Mae elsewhere and trains her disguised as the Stranger the entire time; then when he sent her on her trials he sent her to 'another' associate: himself! At this stage he is undisguised and posing as a less opposing figure, an apothecary and smuggler, who pretends that his Stranger form is his master who "...collects people." Had Mae proven her worth, he would only then take her to Plaqueis. The question is only whether he would be taking her there to try to kill Plagueis and seize more power, or if it is all in service to Plaqueis.

The type of screenwriting 101 issues that she has with the show are something that’s plagued nearly every Star Wars project going back to at least the prequels, but that doesn’t excuse them, and instead only makes it more important for the fanbase to let Lucasfilm know they’re fed up with it. That said, it really really feels as though the issue here wasn’t that the script was lazy, but that it was overwritten by too many cooks, likely being a victim of the studio system.

**PRETTY LONG MESSAGE. DON'T READ IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO** Maude's responses are starting to display, someone who invalidates others' emotions or how they would handle certain things in certain environments, other than their own. I recognize this with how she describes how Mae and Osha should react in their environments. There are alot of people in this world who handle their life and emotions DIFFERENTLY. And this may not be the case for Osha, but there are people who know how to control their emotions or repress them, even when they have dealt with extreme situations or environments. A lot of people control or repress their emotions in different ways, and there are others who end up becoming implosive. Which implosive is what I got from Osha, and even that could be displayed different ways that may not always be spelled out, and can catch someone off guard. Not everybody is going to show the signs like Anakin Skywalker. Some people can tell you they're angry and still show restraint, and I mean alot or restraint. And to mix in with that, we come to this crossing point where we can't always do the same thing when it comes to someone's emotions in movies, or shows, because we should be showing variety. At the same time, we end up having this bias towards how people should conduct themselves, because we become too oblivious about the variety and nature of people, and are not accepting as we pretend to be. Maude really takes it home like it's a complete shutdown on how someone should be. People are not always the people you read in books or you see in movies or shows of the past. People are people, and that complication of people is rarely explored because we have our own bias. The dialogue, yes, may not always be great from the series, but how the people reacted or acted in the series is not different than how many people act in the real world. And I applaud Brandon everytime he came on this week, for this segment. It always seems like he tries to observe and understand people's nature when observing.

😮 the core problem with Star Wars as a movie or television franchise is that they made it too dependent on the core story of the original three movies and the characters in it. Rogue one and Andor are really good shows but general fans for some reason cannot get behind it. Obi-Wan, I will admit was kind of rough, did better because it is a Star Wars original character based movie. Solo the movie in general did not get a good reception because it wasn’t a character that the audience recognized obviously, the character was Han Solo but the actor didn’t look anything close to what Harrison Ford looks like, and they were taken out of the fantasy for them

I agree with your thoughts on them possibly using the prophecy as motivation for Sol and why he really wanted to "Save" Osha but I think they didn't do it because of toxic fans. Leslie did that interview where she specifically said they weren't created in the same way as Anakin and aren't as powerful and I think Disney knew and were afraid of upsetting those fans so they went with something else.

If season 2 happens, I would personally like to see Qimir and Osha training to challenge Darth Plagiues for the title of Sith Lord and what not but when they do (at the midway point of the season) Plagiues just laughs and introduces his true apprentice Darth Sidious. Rest of season is Plagiues and Palpatine hunting down Osha and Qimir while we learn about the sith.

I was under the impression that the motivation for splitting 1 being into 2 was to create the ultimate "Power of 2" system as the were being taught in one of the early episodes. Their whole thing was power in numbers. And 2 identicals should function together flawlessly unless their minds develop to desire different things. Thereby causing all this strife.

@@babytoshiro7014completely fair. In my opinion it was a good finale for what it was. The flaws people clocked throughout the season were 50% legit, 20% reading too much into certain things and 30% misunderstanding/missing what was given. That 50% legit stuff concerns stiff acting, narrative choices, pacing, character decisions, contrived conveniences, and the like, but those aren't always the concerns of the average viewer, so it is easier for some to follow along and just enjoy it. Nothing wrong with that, but for those that pick up on those things more, it is hard to overlook and takes away a lot of potential enjoyment.

Sol has alibis for the 2 murders of Indara and Torbin, though, so the cover-up makes no sense. He was on Coruscant when Indara was killed and there's a witness that saw Mae do it. When Torbin was killed, Sol was working with the local jedi to find Mae so those jedi know it wasnt Sol.
@bajansamurai3 ай бұрын
The cover up is flimsy, but it gives a convenient enough story for the council to not suspect a bigger issue at play. The idea is actually that it also wouldn't hold up under scrutiny but that she was eager for something that looked like the Jedi handling their own internal problems and the case was closed. She could claim, if even asked, that Sol used a third party for the first assassination, but fooled everyone else and secretly entered Torbin's quarters to poison him then claim otherwise, then went on to wipe out Kelnacca and the task force they sent to get him. The special tribunal would have to find witnesses of the bar fight where Indara was taken out to get to the truth, and even then Vernestra would be tempted to go and plant false memories in witnesses. Cover ups gamble on the fact these locations are remote and the council wouldn't have the breadcrumbs to lead them to look closer when a satisfying answer is right in front them.
@AllGreyEverything3 ай бұрын
I was thinking the idea was that Sol manipulated Mae into doing it and then mind-wiped her so she couldn't implicate him. Sol always insisting on going after Osha and Mae himself lends itself to him being behind it all. It's that classic trope of the cop working the murder they committed. Because Vernestra is dressed in her senate hearing dress when she meets Mae, there may have been a longer scene shot where Mae testified there too. Vern seemed like she might have been prepping Mae with a lie about Sol's guilt.
@bajansamurai3 ай бұрын
@@AllGreyEverything yes, that would be a plausible story to pin on Sol about using Mae then mind wiping her to avoid implication. Precisely. That's pretty much what I meant, I was referring to her as the third party, and without Qimir as a suspect in any of this, that's precisely what people would think, that Sol also mindwiped his pawn (maybe even psychically conditioned her to do his bidding in the first place). All roads lead back to Sol plausibly in Vernestra's lie.

Something definitely felt off about the ending of the show. I agree that time could’ve been dedicated better in the show to have more character development make the payoffs more earned. Brandon just can't help himself with repeating the same sentence about Andor. The same words, verbatim, every single time. Besides it having more viewers than Ahsoka or The Acolyte. Look up the Luminate analysis on Disney Star Wars shows. Andor is the most watched show after the shoes with the known names in it like Mandolorian, Boba Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi. The analysis also shows that The Acolyte is by far the worst performing SW show they ever made. Deserved of course. Cool light saber fights do not compensate the lack of story and incoherent storytelling.
