You can see this in the show when he maxes out his Z-drive at the end and throws it at Viktor when it is about to explode.

​​@@dcmkflylo1603 I think this z drive sents a shockwave to anyone outside the area where it's activated like a ripple in time that distorts the current space. Ekko used this knowledge in his advantage when he cranked it up against the glorious evolved. And I think there's a distance to it, because as you said powder wasn't affected, and in the final fight, only those touching ekko got blown away not everyone. So I think the shockwave is only to those close by that aren't ekko

My theory is that z-drive doesn’t really undo time. Rather it allows ekko to travel into another universe that plays out the sane events to his, but 4 seconds ago. That’s why the strand of heimer’s hair stuck to him

In League he has a thing on his wrist to activate it, though the Z-drive itself still has a cord that he pulls, presumably to charge it. In Arcane it seems it's activated entirely with the cord.

Time and space in an small area around ekko got twisted, the longer he travel the more twisted it become. At 4 seconds, heime(who is in range) pop like a balloon while ekko who is the one who use z enigine protected from the effect stay the saw it all.
