I think there were 3 tremendous displays, but HL was the stealer. Bev was also great. If any one of those characters were in this series - and the rest were flat = they would still stand out as mesmerising. True masterpiece of a show. I think MM will be a true classic - and - as the word classic is casually used - by Netflix standards - this is their masterpiece.

Bev’s the true villain of the show, if there is one. Perfectly acted, one of the best villains I’ve seen in a long long time
@jawadabdullah8553 жыл бұрын
Obvi bev was the main villain, paul never was a villain but someone who was manipulated easily by the angel through his faith. Even the angel is never considered as the main villain because he is a metaphor for fanaticism and here it is not main reason for the downfall of crockett but bevs extremist mindset

@@jawadabdullah855 : I disagree with what you said about Pruitt. The manipulation excuse only works for as long as Pruitt had dementia. His confusion and delusions are understandable then, and only then. But once his mental faculties were restored, the "Oh, but I was manipulated," excuse flew right out the window. Far as I'm concerned, Pruitt was a villain. And he remained a villain until he realized (far too late) that what he had done was wrong.

My favorite moment is Paul pulling out and tossing aside his priest collar right before become dust mirroring the way he tossed aside the Bible verse about returning to dust that Riley wrote to him.

Samantha Sloyan's Bev Keane has to be the strongest character/actor choice on Netflix. The monologue at the mayor should win an award.

@@sanamsitaram7940 Yeah it didn’t really say faith was bad, but that people can take it and twist it for bad purposes, just like real life. I appreciated that sort of objective lens bc it’s too easy to let the crazy religious folks ruin it for everyone, but religion can be just a beautiful and healing as it can be horrifying and destructive, just like people

I spent the whole time watching Midnight Mass and days after trying to figure out why the character of Bev was so familiar to me, given that I had never met such a person in real life. Then today it hit me, she reminds me of Shirley Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church. In Loius Theroux's time spent with the church she always had a piece of scripture to back up her opinions, beliefs and actions. Just as Bev does. Absolutely incredible performance from Samantha and as this was my first experience watching some of Mike Flanagan's work I am excited to watch his other work.

Glad we can laugh about it..😄 Not my fave horror story. The whole Catholic rhetoric thing was annoying to someone who was raised Catholic. However, religion can make people gullible and downright nuts. Father Paul and Bev: horribly misguided. There's the scariest bit to this show. These 2 did some darn good acting so kudos!
