So, let me get this straight. This episode basically shows us that in the world of Spongebob. All starfish are dumb. I mean think about it. Marty and Jeanette literally just walked up to some random guy's house that they've never met in their lives and just assumed that they were Patrick's parents just because he called them mom and dad.

This episode just shows the importance of telling the truth. SpongeBob should’ve just stuck with the truth instead of encouraging Patrick to lie to his “parents”. Yes, what Patrick did was messed up but this could have been avoided if SpongeBob and Patrick just spoke the truth. Even by the end of the episode, SpongeBob digs a hole so deep for himself that he can’t escape. This leads me to this other moral lesson “have pride in who you are, don’t level down for someone else.” SpongeBob levels down to Patrick and his “family” who are dumb. If you ever argue with a group of fools your whole brain is gonna short circuit like SpongeBob because 9 times out of ten the fool you’re trying to teach won’t listen and learn from you.

I personally feel like this episode is way too mean spirited even by the show’s standards because Spongebob acted dumb to help Patrick look smart for his parents but later on Patrick goes way too far with insulting Spongebob and he doesn’t get punished for it. Spongebob explains why he acted dumb to Patrick’s parents, this could’ve been a heartwarming scene where Patrick’s parents still love him despite him being dumb but nope, instead spongebob get insulted even further. That’s why I’m not a fan of this episode.

Well y’all met Patrick’s fake and real parents. Despite saying he doesn’t have a sister in Something Smells, he does has a sister, Sam, in a post movie episode called “Big Sister Sam”, and has other family members in his own spinoff show. Squidward has a mom and a grandma. Mr. Krabs has his mother, Grandpappy and Pearl. Would love to see you guys react to Plankton’s Army someday. Other than Spongebob’s parents and grandma, he also has cousins, Blackjack and Stanley. And an uncle named Captain Blue. They appear in their own episodes in seasons 4 or 5. As for Sandy, she has her triplet nieces in Sandy’s Nutty Nieces, and she will be having her own movie coming out next year, and that movie will actually feature her parents, brother and other family members.
