The custom work is really awesome. I've run Hooker Electric on my International 50's for a few years now and have had zero problems. I spool them with 130# or 80# Jerry Brown hollow core. I just like the ability to splice in new line if I get cut off. I've found the hollow also spools really flat and I can get an extra 10% or so of capacity. Downside is it's pricey off the bat but it saves you money being able to splice in.

All that money should’ve bought an LP and had the option of interchangeable spools...

I always tied the line onto the spool and then use a tape and tape it nice and tight onto the spool. When it’s taped onto the spool, your fishing lines will be nice and tight and won’t slip.
@name_less76873 жыл бұрын
You could totally make a reel to count feet. Instead of it going off of rotations, it could have an encoder sensor for the line to run though to count mm, cm, inches, yrds, meters, kilometers, or miles. Whatever you want. They're incredibly accurate and the same technique is used on a lot of very heavy construction equipment. Also forklifts. ;)

Question josh or anyone else that can help. What do you suggest spooling on a 20 size trolling reel for sailfish/kingfish/blackfin.
@oracle41224 жыл бұрын
I prefer putting a few yards of mono on the bottom when I spool reels for customs. It grabs nicely and unlike tape, it doesn't leave a sticky residue when you take it off.
@BlacktipH4 жыл бұрын
I understand what you’re saying, but you never see the bottom of the spool? There should always be line on the reel.
@oracle41224 жыл бұрын
BlacktipH True. You do never see the bottom of a reel but at the same time, old mono is easier to take off than old tape.

I will like to start shark fishing. What is a great rod, line, and reel to use that are a reasonable price. I like to find one that I can depend on that'll get the job done. Thank you.
@Tyler-kw9ce4 жыл бұрын
That's like saying I want to get into drag racing what's a cheap car... shark fishing isn't cheap. You can get blacktips and small sharks on spinning gear like an 8k saragosa or slammer. But if you go for big sharks you need a tiagra, penn international, avet, accurate ATD, Makaira etc... you will kill big sharks due to exhaustion if you dont use really heavy tackle and lots if drag. I know guys who use 130w with 200lb braid. They get 10ft sharks in under 45 minutes. It's not a cheap sport.
@shawnrohrer67224 жыл бұрын
@@Tyler-kw9ce I did not know shark fishing is expensive. I understand drag racing lol. Sometimes even the most expensive drag car won't win. Thank you for all that information. I rather buy one instead of renting.

My two most expensive reels are an accurate 50 A T D $$$ dont remember any more ,,,in red, Now I remember price reel and line 1450.00 It has 1100 yards of 80 lb braid... and tiburon 50 wide gold,,$ 950.00,,,, no line on it yet, but is rated for 500 yards 80 lb mono.. Got a couple van stalls too, but I got them at major discount vrse normal price And I am set for the rest if my life,,,, if I live to age 500 years...

@oliver cheng Whatever you choose, as long as they pull in fish... Saw a you tube video where someone put an extra car tire rim as a spool onto the axil lug nuts,,, And pulled in a 500nlb shark in half hour....not very sporting, but our hunter gatherer ancestors would be impressed...
