Would it do any harm to put a dab of bearing grease on the upper pad retaining pin...just to the pads slide a bit easier over the pin? I realize the grease might attract some dirt, but is that so bad? Great info in the video. Thanks

Have you done any abs mt09 brakes yet? Mine is 2014 abs and the manual says to get a dealer to pulse test the brakes after a self pad change.....just wonder what is that and how necessary is it.
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
I do not feel like this is necessary, but sometimes you are better to be safe than sorry. If you have not opened up the hydraulic system and only replaced the pads I would suggest breaking in the pads properly see how they feel. I have not seen the manual personally but what I think they are referring to is braking hard enough to get the ABS to activate. End of the day this is your call as to whether you take the bike in or not. Odds are you are good to go. - Van

You can use most any brake cleaner on the brake parts. I have used a ton of different ones over the years. For the brake fluid I like to stick with EBC or Motul RBF 600 is you want a better fluid. www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motul-rbf600-factory-line-racing-brake-fluid/ - Van

Any idea why my rear brake randomly lost like all stopping power on my MT09? The bike has 3400 kms (brand new) and I used to be able to lock the rear brake... Now even with HARD pressure it barely slows down.
@bobfrankfurt94495 жыл бұрын
I rear that riding in rain can cause this for a couple of rides afterwards? I'll try Brake Cleaner and a cloth on the rotors tonight.
@sportbiketrackgear5 жыл бұрын
I would start by inspecting the rear brake pads for excessive wear. If the pedal is firm and the pads are not heavily worn out they may be glazed over causing them to not work to their potential. After inspecting if you find no mechanical issues I would replace the rear pads. Make sure to break them in carefully to get the best performance from them. - Van

@@sportbiketrackgear The bike has 3400 KMS... Brand new.. I did just ride in heavy rain for the first time 4 days ago. I read that maybe some contaminants may have gotten onto the pads and to just "wear" them in a bit more to get rid of the contaminants?
@sportbiketrackgear5 жыл бұрын
That is also possible. Assuming your front brake is working properly just ride the bike and see if it sorts itself out. It is important to note that you should not be too hard on the brakes when they are not working properly. This will just overheat the pads and possibly damage them. - Van

@sportbiketrackgear9 жыл бұрын
Desean Jackson How many miles do you have on the bike? Also did you take the time to break in the pads when the bike was new? In my experience the anti squeak products for breaks are worthless. We would use them in the shop (auto) and honestly they never really helped. - Van
@deseanjackson49899 жыл бұрын
I have 1500 miles and I never had any issues with any hard stops took it easy. When I clean the discs with brake cleaner the squeal goes away for a few stops and then it starts all over again
@sportbiketrackgear9 жыл бұрын
Desean Jackson I would replace the pads if the squeal is bothersome, odds are that will fix it. The stock pads are typically pretty good, I know our bike did not have an issue with a brake squeal. That said things happen, perhaps there is an issue with the set of pads on your bike. If you can live with the squeal just leave it and keep riding. - Van
